Heather Gibson, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist. She received her MA and PhD in clinical psychology from Texas Tech University and completed her clinical internship and training at UCLA's Neuropsychiatric Institute. Dr. Gibson has published empirical studies on the treatment of eating disorders and has written textbook chapters on the subject.
While she has enjoyed working and learning in various areas, she most loves connecting with people. Dr. Heather Gibson has been working in private practice since 2003, primarily in the areas of eating disorders, obesity, and weight loss surgery. Dr. Gibson provides pre-bariatric consultations and post-op support. She also supports non-surgical patients in their weight loss and weight management journeys.
"I feel so lucky to be able to do the work I do. I love being able to meet with people, help them feel at ease with therapy or psychological consultation, and help them to employ their own strengths to build skills to address whatever is going on for them at the time." - Dr. Gibson
Dr. Gibson has helped thousands of patients manage their weight by assessing their needs and providing personalized cognitive and behavioral tools that match their healthful lifestyle. She uses proven, empirically validated treatments to guide her work. However, her experience has shown that no two people who need to lose weight are the same. We all use food, have habits, and think about food differently. Dr. Heather Gibson works to develop an effective weight loss program specifically tailored to an individual's life, needs, strengths, and behavior patterns.
