Video:  The Weight Loss Journey Of Ramon Lopez

The video below is a musical pictorial of OH Member Da Shrinking Dawg Ramon in 2006 after he had lost an inspiring 270 pounds!  He shared this with us at an OH event that year.  I get emotional every time I watch this video because I remember the very day I met Ramon. At almost 500 pounds, Ramon was considering weight loss surgery.  He had come to an OH Texas event at the invitation of another OH Member, Yvonne McCarthy. Ramon had reached out to her with WLS questions at the encouragement of his students. Much to his surprise, Yvonne responded to Ramon with in 10 minutes!

Several hundred people attended the OH event that year.  I remember perfectly a seemingly shy Ramon with a smile that lit up a room.  His shyness was not lost by the new friends he was encountering.  His almost 500 pound frame did not matter to them.  He was quickly surrounded by caring, loving, and supportive guys and gals.  Everyone easily fell in love with Ramon and many friendships were formed. He was changing lives at his highest weight and he didn't even know it at the time.

This picture below reflects the very day that many OH'ers, including me, met this incredible man who now pays it forward by inspiring and supporting others.  It also shows our former OH co-worker and friend, the late Kirk Thompson.  Together, these two men have helped so many others in their weight loss journey.  (RIP Kirk...we miss you!)

Some of you may remember Ramon from TLC's Big Medicine, or from his story told in OH Magazine.  Others will remember his inspiring words as a guest speaker at OH events after his weight loss success.  But one thing is for sure, once you have met Ramon Lopez...you won't soon forget him!
