The Run Is Done For These ObesityHelp Members!
November 4, 2013Celebrating ObesityHelp Members Reaching Their Fitness Goals!
Talk about inspiring! Several ObesityHelp members recently reached some pretty incredible fitness goals. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication but it is always worth it when you cross that finish line! A big high five and congrats to the members below...
From The Exercise and Fitness Forum:
PR Today for 10K Race!
billmacc7: "Just returned home. Ran my 2nd 10K race, and took off 5 minutes from my 1st 10k!!!! I finished in 54:30, good for 10th place in my age group and a 8:40 pace...not bad for an old guy!!!"
Greensboro Marathon Finisher!
Sam LifeNerd: "So I finished, that was my primary goal and happy it is over!! My first 13.1 was in 2:51:51 and the second was 3:38:46 so 6:31:21 was the official time they sent me! The course was much hillier than I expected, 1300+ feet of elevation change up (and 1248 down) and I have to admit most of my training I picked out flatter places to run. My left leg / IT band gave me trouble but never quite as bad as 3 weeks earlier, but I finally had to start walking at mile 18. I would try running every once in a while but started having cramps in both hamstrings and right calf. So by the time I ran, cramped, worked out the cramp so I could walk.. it was faster to just walk! So my final 8 miles were 15:32 to 17:45 per mile walking pace. All the folks behind me ended up dropping out so I turned out to the final person on the course! I had a police escort the last 6 miles or so.
My story is that the President was running with me, but could not finish, but that was the reason for the 2 EMTs on the bikes, the police car in front (clearing out intersections) and behind me plus the ambulance behind me! If I had gone down I would have had lots of help for sure!
ONE AND DONE... I have officially completed a marathon and for that I am very happy. I enjoyed the first 13.1 and fully expect to do more Half-Marathons in my future, but unless my body/legs really transform I have no plans for another FULL."
Mission Accomplished!
nfarris79: "I can't believe I did a sub-5... it was brutal and probably one of the hardest thing's I've ever done but my first marathon is now in the past...4hrs 57 min 11 seconds!! What an honor to run with some amazing training partners and seeing all those amazing military!"
First Half Marathon! (2: 06: 31!)
effyx1: "I ran my very first half in Detroit on Sunday. I trained to run it in 2:15:00, so I was very happy with my 2:06:31 finish. I even felt like I could have finished in under 2:05 if it hadn't been for all those people in my way on the Ambassador Bridge and Windsor Tunnel. 🙂 My next goal is to finish a half in under 2 hours, and I plan to run a full marathon in May as long as I still have the courage."
To Celebrate!
rickellz: "To celebrate a very successful triathlon season, I got some ink. I have my coaches and friends dumbfounded on how far I came in one season. Here's to the 2014 season, which I am training for already."
