Rosemary Parmesan Flaxseed Crackers Recipe
May 11, 2016Have you ever tried making crackers out of ground flaxseeds? It can be a little tricky at first, but it is a delicious high-fiber way to satisfy the crunchy and saltiness with the power of nutrition. Flaxseeds must be ground to let your system absorb all of their healthy fats and healing properties…and they are packed with soluble fiber to cleanse the system. These are SUPER SIMPLE…but the key is in the technique.
Roll the flaxseed “dough” out with parchment paper, get it really thin, then let it completely cool after baking and break it into pieces like a large cracker. This photo is while the flaxseed crackers are cooling off! I usually just break it apart with my hands. This is also delicious crushed up on salad like croutons!
Rosemary Parmesan Flaxseed Crackers Recipe
Makes 6 servings
Ingredients
- 1 cup ground flaxseed (flaxseed meal)
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated or shredded
- 1/8 tsp kosher salt
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp fresh or dried rosemary
- 1/2 cup water
Directions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- In a medium bowl, combine all dry ingredients.
- Add in water and still until a dough forms.
- Spoon out onto a flat baking sheet covered in parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- Spread out the mixture evenly to 1/8 inch all the way around. (The best way to do this is to place a sheet of parchment paper on top, then use a rolling pin to evenly distribute. The dough does not need to be in a perfect circle or square).
- Bake for 15 – 20 minutes. Crackers are done when the middle is dried out and the edges are slightly browned.
- Remove from oven and let cool. Break flaxseed into pieces to make rustic crackers. Serve with anything!
