My journey started when I was 14 years old and was put down a lot because of my weight. It put me into a tailspin of diets, bulimia, anorexia, depression, and yo-yo dieting for 46 years. I pretty much stopped living and experiencing life. I had depression, no self-worth, and bulimia.
In 2016, my husband and I decided to start traveling. At my highest weight, I was miserable and knew I wasn’t going to be able to experience the new life that we had planned for us. I’ve had family members and friends that have gone through bariatric surgery so I went for a consultation with Dr. Channing Chin in Riverside California to talk about getting the sleeve.
While talking with Dr. Chin and discussing that my husband and I decided to start traveling but at my weight that I was miserable. I shared with him that I wasn’t going to be able to experience the new life that we had planned for us. While talking with him, we also discussed the RNY. I decided to go with RNY because I felt that it was better for me to hold me more accountable for my food intake. I decided that the end of 2016 that this was going to be life-changing for me and I was no longer going to live the life that I didn’t have food control my life. I was taking my life back in control.

I had the RNY in October 2016 and lost 110 pounds. This surgery is not a magic pill. It is a tool to help us get our life back. Everything about this surgery is life-changing. If you don’t change the way you feel about food, this surgery will not work. Your whole world has to change in order for it to work.
I’m the healthiest and the happiest that I’ve ever been in my entire life. I have the energy to play with my grandkids, go swimming, hiking- it’s endless what I can do now. I also have beautiful clothes I can wear now instead of the big ugly tents that I used to wear my whole life.
