Old Hollywood Fashion Show
September 9, 2014NYC may have Fashion Week but we had the Old Hollywood Fashion Show!
Have you ever been to an ObesityHelp Conference Fashion Show? The Fashion Show is an experience of a lifetime! Members share their transformation, style and success on the runway, cheered on by fellow members in the audience. The room is filled with energy, excitement and inspiration! At #OH2014, there was lots of glitz and glamour as 30 of our attendees celebrated their weight loss surgery milestones at the Conference's Old Hollywood Fashion Show, sponsored by Building Blocks Vitamins.
Just as you'd expect from a theme of Old Hollywood, our weight loss surgery models were dressed to the nines! Our favorite outfit of the night was confidence and our favorite accessories were the smiles that all models wore as they strutted down the walkway celebrating their weight loss surgery victories. The Fashion Show was absolutely inspiring, seeing before and afters behind the models on the screen.
Each model shared one of their favorite Non-Scale Victories (NSV), here are a few:
"What can I say, before WLS, I always wanted to complete a Half Marathon. Here I stand almost 7 years post op, down over 125lbs and gearing up to complete my 5th Half Marathon in October 2014! I so rock!!" MsShell Wilson
"When I started this journey I had diabetes, high blood pressure, congestive heart failure, sleep apnea and so much more. Now I am healthier than I have ever been, all of those conditions are under control. I can walk and play with my grandchildren, I can go up and down stairs easier. I have a new lease on life!" Linda D. Wright-Lee
"Besides just generally feeling amazing and much healthier, I have started to see myself as an athlete for the first time in my life. I completed my first triathlon on August 2nd. I am so thankful for my WLS family." Katie Thorleifson
"My biggest accomplishment has been my dedication to exercise. I fell in love with Zumba and am now a licensed instructor - something I could have never dreamed of at 305lbs!" Elena Kibasova
"My most memorable non scale moment was the first time I saw my reflection and finally could see the skinny me. I had suffered from body dysmorphic disorder for so long, that I could never enjoy or even see my weight loss." Jessica De La Cerda
"One of the most important NSV's I've had since surgery has been training for my first 5k run. With hard work and dedication, I ran my first 5k in under 30 minutes- beating my personal best." Bobby
