OH2016 Conference Highlights (With Videos!)
January 19, 2017The 2016 ObesityHelp National Conference was a huge success with over 500 attendees! Every minute was jam-packed with education, support, friendship, and celebration. Some conference highlights:
Speakers & Sessions: There was a total of 24 Speakers and Q&A Panelists with 16 Sessions to choose from, as well as 3 Fitness Sessions!
Prizes & Giveaways: During the two-day conference, there were 68 prizes awarded, including a cruise ticket giveaway, a free bariatric surgery and a discounted plastic surgery drawing. Each attendee also received a Swag Bag with 25 products in it!
Celebrations: Our celebrations included a Goal Signing Wall, a Costume Party with a roaming magician, a Fashion Show, a comedy hypnosis show and a Red-Cart Entrance After Party
The Exhibitor Hall: The Exhibitor Hall was fantastic with 19 Exhibitors, four Plastic Surgery consultation rooms and a book-signing with Dr. Nowzaradan.
Keynote Speaker: Dr. Younan Nowzaradan
Dr. Younan Nowzaradan (Dr. Now), surgeon from the TLC hit Series, “My 600lb Life” was the 2016 National Conference Keynote Speaker. He has dedicated much of his career to advocating quality medical management for the obese. While others were limiting weight loss surgery to those who weighed under 300-lbs, he was already performing safe laparoscopic weight loss surgery on super morbidly obese individuals who weighed in excess of 600-lbs. Dr. Nowzaradan firmly believes in the care of the obese without discrimination or prejudice.
Dr. Nowzaradan has become a beacon of hope for those who have struggled with their weight. He has changed the lives of many when others weren’t willing to help them. Click on the video below to watch our chat with Dr. Now!
Fireside Chat, Life After "My 600 lb Life"
In addition to Dr. Nowzaradan, two of his patients from “My 600lb Life” joined us for the Fireside Chat!
Melissa Morris started her journey at 673 pounds and had been denied treatment due to her size, she had surgery with Dr. Nowzaradan in 2005 and her story was featured on Season 1. Melissa has lost 487 pounds and fulfilled her dream of being able to have children!
Amber Rachdi started her journey at 668 pounds and was told she would be dead by 30 if she didn't lose weight, she had surgery with Dr. Nowzaradan in 2014 and her story was featured on Season 3. Amber has lost 421 pounds, is a regular at her local gym and is now engaged!

2017 ObesityHelp National Conference
Preparations are already underway for the 2017 ObesityHelp National Conference, and we'd love for you to join us. If you're interested in speaking, stay tuned as next week we will be accepting speaker submissions!
