Join us on Saturday, October 17th at the ObesityHelp National Conference for Questions and Answers with the #OH2015 Bariatric Professionals Panel. This will be an interactive session where Bariatric Professionals will answer your questions! To ask a question, you will step-up to our audience microphones and ask your question to the panelist that you would like to answer it. The moderator and conference staff will help keep the Q&A moving, so that we can try and get in as many questions as possible during the allotted time.

Bariatric Surgeon: Ranjan Sudan, MD, FACS Dr. Ranjan Sudan is a bariatric surgeon at the Duke Center for Metabolic and Weight Loss Surgery; Vice Chair of Education, Department of Surgery; Associate Professor of Surgery; and Associate Professor in Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. He has 34 years of surgical experience, performing the Duodenal Switch, Roux-en-Y, Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy, Lap-Band, and Revision bariatric procedures. Bariatric Surgeon: Ryan Heider, MD, FACS Dr. Heider received his medical degree from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and completed his surgery training at University of North Carolina Hospitals in Chapel Hill. While at UNC, he participated in a variety of advanced minimally invasive and laparoscopic procedures, including laparoscopic gastric bypass, gastrectomy and esophageal surgery. He was the first Charlotte-area surgeon to perform single-incision, “scarless” bariatric surgery and is one of only a few surgeons in the nation with the advanced training to perform the 90-minute procedure. Plastic Surgeon: Detlev Erdmann, MD, PhD, MHSc, FACS Born and raised in Germany, Dr. Detlev Erdmann attended medical school in Berlin and Munich, Germany until 1990. He is board-certified in General Surgery (1998), Plastic Surgery (2000) and Hand Surgery (2003) in Germany and became US board-certified in Plastic Surgery in 2013. Psychologist: Dr. Sarah Galloway Dr. Galloway conducts pre-bariatric surgery psychosocial evaluations, as well as individual and group treatment. Treatment foci include improving candidacy for surgery, promoting health behaviors, and behavioral weight management for patients before and after surgery. She has specialized in health promotion, disease prevention, and behavioral treatment of medical conditions. Dietician: Patrick Mahaney, RD, LDN Patrick was a collaborating author and published research on nutrition status and function after weight loss surgery. He was also a contributing author in the “Ask the Expert” column in the Journal of Bariatric Nursing and Surgical Patient Care.
