ObesityHelp Conference Speaker Dr. Howard Gluss
May 15, 2014We’re happy to introduce Dr. Howard Gluss as a speaker for the 2014 ObesityHelp Conference!
Workshop Session: Sex, Intimacy And Relationships After Weight Loss Surgery
Obesity can greatly impact our intimate relationships. It can trigger anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, reduced libido and shameful body experiences. These issues can be detrimental to mental health. After weight loss surgery, libido and sexual function can greatly improve. Despite theses improvements there may sometimes be psychological and relationship barriers that need work. For example, if you have ever shied away from intimacy in your relationship for emotional or physical reasons, you may discover that there can be many challenges associated with rediscovering intimacy and sexuality after weight loss surgery. In his breakout session Dr. Gluss will explore ways to minimize the effects of these psychological factors and provide tools for building more meaningful relationships.
