About Dr. Ortiz
Dr. Ortiz has over 7 years experience in bariatric surgery. He has performed over 1,000 bariatric surgeries (including the Lap Band surgery, Gastric Bypass Surgery, Mini Bypass, the Gastric Sleeve, Duodenal Switch and Gastric Sleeve Plication). Dr. Ortiz is certified in the Allergan gastric band (one of only 2 FDA approved gastric bands) as well as certified in the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy, Gastric Bypass and Duodenal Switch.
Dr. Ortiz earned his medical degree at Faculty of Medicine of the Autonomous University of Baja California. in 2004. Dr. Ortiz received extensive training in Endoscopic Surgery and Obesity Surgery. He is accredited by the American College of Surgeons, in Tijuana BC Mexico. Dr. Ortiz is often an invited speaker on the subject of weight loss surgery as well as other topics. Dr. Ortiz has also published his work in medical journals. Dr. Ortiz holds memberships in several prominent medical organizations in Mexico.
This is only a small sampling in a long list of Dr. Ortiz’s credentials and expertise. Dr. Ortiz says he enjoys changing the life of his patients and seeing them regain their health. He considers it an honor when a patient puts their trust in him and he always wants to provide the best treatment possible to all his patients. Dr. Ortiz believes he has the best most advanced bariatric team available today in Tijuana. He says he is very proud of his team and would feel comfortable putting his life in their hands just as his patients do.
Dr. Ortiz attended the OH2013 Conference in Anaheim and answered questions on the professional Q&A panel. He also partnered with A Lighter Me to provide a free surgery during the ObesityHelp 2013 National Conference.
