Life Is Looking Up Again!
June 9, 2013Before & After: Featuring Terri Coty
My name is Terri Coty. Along with my lifelong weight issue came arthritis, fibromyalgia, asthma, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and depression. The 260 pounds I was carrying was killing me.
At 58 years old I was on a downward spiral. I tried every diet, would reach my goal, and then my mind would tell me to eat again.
Finally, I researched weight loss surgeries and attended a Franciscan Center for Weight Management seminar where I learned about my options. I was pumped up! I thought, “I can do this!”
After a brief, supervised medical weight loss plan I had gastric bypass surgery in November 2011. I reached my goal weight of 143 pounds by the end of September 2012 – a loss of 117 pounds in less than a year.
My dress and pant size dropped from a size 20 to a size 4. My triglycerides fell from 302 to 64. However, one of the most important numbers to me is the circumference of my waist – because my family can now get their arms all the way around it to give me hugs, I can play on the floor with my grandchildren.
My co-morbid conditions have either resolved themselves or improved drastically – including my moods. My energy levels are through the roof. I’d do it 10 times over again!
