Happy Memorial Day -Always Honor, Always Remember!

May 28, 2023

Happy Memorial Day! Today we remember and honor our fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives in service to the United States of America. We honor their unwavering courage to defend our freedoms and reflect with sincere gratitude and appreciation of all they fought and died for.

Memorial Day weekend is often a time where families get together for barbecues,  family reunions, campling, fishing, and finding personal ways to honor the heroes in our lives.

Here are some meaningful ways to honor our fallen heroes and to celebrate Memorial Day:

  1. Attend a Memorial Day Ceremony or Parade to show support and  pay respects.
  2. Have a moment of silence to reflect on our  heroes and their sacrifices. Take a few moments of silence at 3PM local time on Memorial Day as part of the National Moment of Remembrance.
  3. Spend quality time with a Veteran. Perhaps you have a Veteran in your family that you would like to take to lunch or dinner?  Or visit a Veteran’s home and thank a Veteran in person.
  4. Volunteer your time at a Veterans organization that supports their families.
  5. Visit a military cemetery or war memorial  and place flowers or flags on the graves of fallen soldiers.
  6. Show your patriotism! In the morning, fly the American flag at half-staff in honor of all who died serving our country.  At noon raise the flag to full-staff to symbolize our heroes did not die in vain.
  7. Take time to learn about the history of Memorial Day.
  8. Donate to a charity that supports Veterans. Such as Building Homes for Heroes and the Travis Mills Foundation.
  9. Tell their stories!  Share their photos. Share stories and photos of our fallen veterans with your children and grandchildren.
  10.  Call a friend or loved one who has lost a soldier. Celebrate the memory of their fallen loved one.
  11. Shop at a military or Veteran owned business.
  12.  Put together care packages and send them to soldiers on active duty. You can do so through Operation Gratitude or the USO.
  13.  Post a tribute on social media.
  14.  Write a letter to a soldier or Veteran. You can say thank you through A Million Thanks.
  15. Always Honor, Always Remember!

However you chose  to honor Memorial Day and our fallen heroes, it will be a time of gratitude and remembrance. Have a safe and meaningful Memorial day!
