Getting The Desires Of Your Heart
February 13, 2013Getting The Desires Of Your Heart
As a Life Empowerment Coach whose focus is to help people create their life dreams, one question I am continually asked is, “How do we manifest our desires?” Meaning, how do we get the love we want? How do we get the job and the money we want? How do we create the body we want? The answer to those questions is simple: You must choose which path you will take. Let me explain.
When it comes to manifesting the desires of our heart, or not, there are only two paths we can take. Path number one is what I call “Destiny’s Path.” Destiny’s Path is a passion based journey where each waking day is filled with opportunity and joy. It is where we run into our self and experience what it feels like to have control over your own life. It is where our gifts and talents create not just revenue, but passion! Personally, I believe we are all meant to be on Destiny’s Path because the motto of Destiny’s Path is, “Whatever it is I desire, I can live!”
The more common path many people take unfortunately is path number two, “The Default Path.” I say unfortunately because the Default Path is the road that leaves us feeling less-than and wanting. The Default Path is where our desires are not only forgotten due to laborious work loads, but also they fall on deaf ears, never ending excuses, or they continue to get pushed under the ever expanding debt load (a.k.a. “Your dream is never going to happen”) pile.
I personally believe that the Default Path is an emotionally dangerous journey because if we are not careful, this path can lead us to believe that we don’t have the power to create change for our life.
So the people who end up on Destiny’s Path and live the desires of their heart, do they get there because they and more deserving? Are they luckier? Or do they have a direct line to the Heavens?
The answer to those questions is “no.” Luck, lineage, or lines of communication have nothing to do with whether or not a person can create the desires of their heart. Instead, understanding desire and why we have it is the key that will unlock the door to Destiny’s Path.
What is a Desire?
Emilie Cady, the author of Lessons In Truth (Centennial 1892) gives the best definition of desire I have heard. Cady describes desire as, “The dawning awareness that something you want is already on its way to you.”
What does this mean to our everyday life? It means that rather than a desire being a wanting for something we do not yet have, desire instead is a confirmation that what we want is already en route to us! In other words, desire lets us know that what we want is already ours!
Here is the good news: If desire means that what we want is already en route to us, this means we no longer need to beg, plead or try to convince the universe or people to help us. As such, when it comes to manifesting our desires, our focus or our energy output needs to simply be in preparing ourselves for the arrival of our desire. Clearly understand the mental state of people walking on Destiny’s Path versus Default’s Path is those on Destiny’s path know their desire is en route to them and their job is to prepare, not plead.
Where Do Desires Come From?
The original definition of the word desire comes from the word, “de” which means “of” and the word “sire” which means Father (or God / Spirit or Universe, whichever you are more comfortable with). All desire therefore, is born of the spirit. Using this reference point I will draw a mental picture of desire. I want you to think of a baseball game where you are the batter, the Universe is the pitcher and the ball is your desire. The pitcher, being the one who knows the desires of your heart before you do, winds up and sends the ball toward you. If you have ever stood on a batters mound you know the intense feelings of anticipation you get at that moment. One thing is for sure. You are not looking out at the bleachers trying to convince people the ball is en route to you. No! Because you know without a doubt the ball is coming, rather than waste your energy or focus trying to convince onlookers, you, with great focus and anticipation instead prepare for the arrival of that ball. Your only focus is connecting with that ball and as such, you will!
Three Steps To Your Desires
If this year you truly want to walk on Destiny’s Path, the place where desires are reality, here are three steps to begin your journey.
#1: Commit:
Your first step to manifesting your desires is to make the commitment to remember the moment you feel desire, that is confirmation ‘the ball’ has already left the pitcher’s hand and is en route to you. Therefore become committed! Wake up every morning confident that your desire is en route.
#2: Prepare:
This means it is now time to make room for your desire. Therefore today, even when your desire is not yet visible, create the necessary environment for your desire to take root. Speak as though it is already here and most important live your daily life with choices that confirm your package of hope is yours, already.
#3: Stay joyful:
How would you feel if you knew that getting what you desired was how the journey ended? Answer — you would feel good! That is why joy is always the goal. Joy is a sign that you are in line with your Authentic State of Being (the person you are meant to be in life). Positive emotions such as joy, excitement and enthusiasm, all found on Destiny’s Path, confirm that we are aligned with our Authentic State of Being. This is important to know because it confirms we are walking on the path of our hearts’ desire.
In truth, we all only have one mission to accomplish while on earth: To create a joyful existence. Meaning, to create the life you desire. As that is the case, we are therefore meant to not only feel the desires of our heart but more important we are meant to experience them. Knowing this fact makes the journey exciting!
It is kind of like knowing the happy ending of a suspense movie. No matter what the big screen tells us is happening now, you personally can have joy and confidence throughout the entire experience because you know your dream is around the corner. Why? Because the desires of your heart confirm your dreams are en route.
