Dr. Alvarez And His Mom: One Month Post-op Update!

Video Transcript: Dr. Alvarez's Mom: One Month Post-op Gastric Sleeve Update
Dr. Alvarez: Hello Everyone. Welcome back. Today we are doing an update on my moms post op phases. We are one month out from surgery and you have lost...
Mom: 21 pounds.
Dr. Alvarez: 21 pounds. We just got her on the scale a few minutes ago and well, tell us...how is life with the sleeve? Let's say, life with the sleeve until now versus the lap-band that you used to have.
Mom: I had a lot of trouble getting used to the lap-band and I feel great with the vertical sleeve. It's a lot different. I eat very well. I feel good and I am very happy. Very happy.
Dr. Alvarez: Good. How about your energy level at this point?
Mom: It's great! I am exercising again. I am walking daily and I feel great.
Dr. Alvarez: Now, 22 pounds in a month a month is great weight loss. Now, you will notice that at this point, you are going to hit a weight stall. It's going to hit a plateau just for a few days maybe...maybe a week or so. But then you will notice the sizing.
Mom: The sizing. The sizes are...
Dr. Alvarez: Amazing
Mom: Yes. I can tell by my clothes. Everyone tells me.
Dr. Alvarez: Good deal. This normally goes... the weight first, then it will stall for a while and then it will pick up with the sizes. Your body will adapt to it's new shape and then you will restart with the weight loss.
Mom: OK
Dr. Alvarez: So that's normally how it goes. So there you have it. That's this months update. We will see you in a month with another update and we will have mom here with new pictures and an update to see how she is doing with the sleeve from a previous band surgery.
