September 8, 2015The healthy habits started early in a child's life will be an investment for them as they grow up to be healthy teenagers and adults. Being an obese child that grows into an obese teenager puts a child at risk for low self-esteem and increases the risk for co-morbid conditions and other negative emotional and physical conditions. It is so important to start at an early age in building healthy nutritional habits and regular activity.
Healthy eating starts as early as infancy by the healthy foods we serve to babies as they progress to eating baby food. It is important to introduce a variety of pureed vegetables, lean proteins and fruits early on so they develop a taste for them.
Nearly 1/2 of preschool-aged children don't get enough physical activity and are watching more television than is recomended. It is vital to help infants develop their gross motor skills and encourage daily physical activity as they grow.
Childhood obesity can be greatly reduced one child at a time, start with the child(ren) in your life today!
