I've been slightly overweight for years but my journey began three years ago. On January 15, 2013, I fell in the shower and ruptured discs in my back. Due to my injured back, I was unable to work and became depressed which caused weight gain. I had my first of two spinal surgeries which caused more weight gain. Before I knew it, I weighed 244 pounds and was taking 14 medications, 3 times a day. I was put on medications for heart issues, high blood pressure, depression, and pain medication. I basically gave up on life.

I saw an ad for weight loss surgery so I attended a seminar on October 14,2014. I decided the VSG procedure was the best one for me.
I completed all of the pre-op requirements and on April 29, 2015, my new life started! To date, I am 119 pounds lighter, off all of my heart, blood pressure and depression medications, and take only three medications.
I am so thankful for my support team I have, Dr. Ahuja, and all my new friends I've made along my journey.
Special Milestones
I have been shopping in the plus size section for so long, I believed I was destined to always buy my clothes in that section.
One month after my bariatric surgery, I was tired of wearing jogging pants and yoga pants. I wanted to feel human again so I put on jeans. Everything I owned literally fell off of me so my hubby treated me to a new pair of jeans. I went to the plus size section as I always had since that was my norm. Nothing in the plus size section fit me! I had to buy regular jeans, but not just any ole regular jeans. My first pair of regular jeans were a size 10! I cried right there in the store big, happy tears! People looked at me strangely until I shared my story. That was a very happy day for me.
