Before & After SIPS with Glen – 156 Pound Weight Loss!
March 29, 2016Celebrating Glen's Journey Before & After SIPS
I had been obese for about 18 years. I started gaining weight after my divorce in 1996. It didn't take long for me to gain from 205 up to 260 pounds in just three years. After my divorce, I became lazy and stopped cooking the foods I used to cook. Eating fast foods became my regular meals. Some of my favorites were pizza with lots of toppings and extra large hero sandwiches with lots of salami, ham, cheese, and peppers.
In 2007, I had developed sleep apnea so I had to wear a C-Pap machine to sleep. I simply could not get enough oxygen to my body so I had to wear the machine every single night.
I've tried to lose weight by myself many times. My last attempt of trying it on my own resulted in losing 24 pounds after seven months. At my highest weight of 389 pounds, I decided I needed more help. I attended one of Dr. Yatco's seminars on weight loss surgery and decided it was for me. I met with Dr. Yatco and his nutritionist, Sharon Zarabi, and they gave me their pre-surgery menu. I followed it for the next seven months before my surgery, joined their program in January 2015 at 365 pounds and changed my life.

Special Milestones and NSVs
One of my milestones is the improved health I now have after my surgery. I can now walk over three miles and work out at the gym three to four times a week. Before my surgery, I could only walk three blocks and was gasping for air or have to stop walking to catch my breath. One of my other favorite non-scale victories is that I now wear XL or XXL sizes, down from a 6XL. Now, I buy my pants at a regular store and not pay the premium prices for a pair of pants at a specialty store, and that feels GREAT!
