It's hard to remember the 6-month waiting period that I had to go through for my insurance company to approve my surgery and get my surgery date. Reflecting on my Before & After RNY, it all seems like a lifetime ago.

My life has changed so much since my surgery: I feel amazing, happiness, love, energy, laughter, joy, high self-worth, more outgoing, value and so much more!
When I had my surgery on June 4, 2007, I could have never dreamed in a million years what my life would become, and just how my own body would reshape and change. My mind can't really keep up with the person I now see in the mirror every day and the rewards of the transformation process.
I feel as though the weight is no longer holding me down, and the sky is the limit for me now and what I can achieve. I no longer am the big pink elephant in the room.
For me, after the surgery, my weight came off very fast. In just a few weeks, my energy level was at a high that I had never felt before. I love every moment of my new energy because now I'm able to run.
I go to the gym almost daily and if I miss going, it kills me! I don't work out to lose weight, I work out to strengthen my mental state and memory. As a full-time college student, working out helps my memory.
I feel amazing! I stay in a happy state of mind and am a more loving person. I have so much more energy and I love this journey. Another change I especially enjoy is that I am so happy that I laugh a lot. Depression has left me and I feel joy within myself. I have more Self-worth. I'm much more outgoing than ever before. One of the biggest things I value now is my life. Weight Loss Surgery is a tool but how you use that tool is all up to you. EMPOWERMENT!
