Hi Everybody! I FINALLY had my gastric bypass surgery on May 2, 2008. I say "finally", because I was actually scheduled for surgery last September 2007 when my insurance changed just 10 days before my surgery date. I'm sure that most of you know how disappointed I was. I was hyped & READY! I had lost & kept off the 20 lbs required by my insurance, and had almost every pre-op test known to man. But somehow I managed to pick myself up and continue to pursue my goal. And I'm so proud of myself for keeping those 20 lbs off while pursuing that goal when I was so depressed. I even managed to lose a little more. I was just so miserable being so overweight! But now looking back, it was all for the better. My new insurance allowed me to have the laparoscopic roux-en-y procedure instead of the open surgery. Being now 24 days post-op, I'm so grateful to have been given the opportunity to have the laparoscopic surgery. I am taking my recovery "one day at a time" to better health!
