Thomas R. Rossi

"My first impression after I researched Dr. Rossi (before I met him) was that this man had to be passionate. That is a good word to describe him. Look it up. He has eight kids for God's sake. That is a personality trait that you WANT your surgeon to have (smile). My impression of him didn't change. I have had two brief encounters with this man. He treated me with respect and answered all of my questions. My impression of him is the same. He knows what he is doing and that is all that matters. The staff at the Peoria Surgical Group is unbelievable. I do not care for the office manager (since we are talking about staff here). Malinda is nice but never returned ONE of my phone calls (after sitting in their lobby the second time I began to understand). Gwen is a dream. Kind, considerate, and returned every one of my phone calls and had respect for me. She made up for anything lacking in that area. Dr. Rossi emphasizes aftercare. That to him is as important as the surgery itself. Just because you survive surgery, doesn't mean that you are "good-to-go." He does his part and expects you to do yours but he is very respectable in how he addresses that issue. He has a very structured after-care program. Every physician at the Peoria Surgical Group does. Future patients should know that the Peoria Surgical Group is a very fast paced, busy office. They do not just do bariatric surgery. They are a multi procedure surgical group and it is important for anyone going into this that they realize that you are one of thousands. Do NOT expect special treatment (this is for pre-op) and if someone offends you DO NOT ask to speak to the office manager! Be patient. Let them call you (this is for pre-op). Dr. Rossi did discuss the risks of surgery with me at length but his confidence was reassuring. Overall, I will give Dr. Rossi an eight. He will get the other two after surgery (smile). Bedside manner was over the top. He is so busy, I do not know how he does it. But he still makes the time to look you in the eye (so to speak). Bedside manners... I give him a 10.5. As far as surgical competence I would have to say if he did not know what he was doing, he simply would not be a surgeon. Okay, there might be some out there that don't. But I am putting my fate, life, trust in this man. If I did not think he could do it (regardless of how I feel about his staff or his bedside manners) I would not be trusting him with my life. "
