There are a lot of schools that teach woodworking. Some are for degrees, and most are just to learn woodworking. This event was held by Fine Woodworking Magazine, which has been published since 1975. I think they are over 300 issues now. They have a website, all the magazine issues, tons of videos -- all kinds of things. They have an unlimited yearly membership for 100 bucks. It might make a nice gift for him.

The event itself was held at the Connecticut Valley School of Woodworking. They offer individual classes by notable woodworkers and authors. I've taken a bunch of classes there.

North Bennet Street School has a degree program, in Boston, and they are one of the best in the world. In California there is the Krenov School of Fine Woodworking, which I think also has a degree program. Its also considered one of the best in the world, and its pretty near to you, in Fort Bragg CA.

Ill see if I can find a list of various schools and send it to you.

There are a lot of woodworking groups, and they usually are specific to a certain type of woodworking. Most of the things on display at this event were made by members of the Society of American Period Furniture Members. I belong to that group, and they have a nice yearly journal, and a quarterly newsletter where they list upcoming shows and events at museums and clubs all around the country. SAPFM also has regional groups that meet in person. Some are very active, and others are not.

Interested people are interesting. There are so many subcultures of talents, skills, enthusiasms, I love it.

Good morning, everybody!

I did a 50 minute stint at that event last night and then discretely exited. It was a meet and greet with another department and we got BINGO cards to fill out as we spoke with people during the evening. One of my entries was "someone with a size 8 foot." That alone was reason to leave early - seems like an HR disaster waiting to happen. But I made it home for Poirot and torte.

This should be a great weekend. Saturday night we are doing a Cinco de Mayo cooking and ****tail class. Sunday we are going on a guided fly fishing trip. In between, I need to get my hair cut and make a few Crossfit classes. And we still have leftover wine and torte from Wednesday. I am not very busy at work today, so I may take a half day to kickstart the weekend.

QOTD: I would say that I am somewhere between a 3 and a 4. I have seen all of them multiple times with our children, but don't really remember the story lines except for the first two movies. I like the cookies though.

Breakfast: scone

Lunch: cheeseburger

Dinner: Torte

Have a great day, all!

I hope you're able to cut out early and have a little bit of a weekend extension.

It was really good. They served it with a white Bordeaux - Sauv. Blanc and Semillon blend.
