Positive Outcome from surgery thus far...

rnI am very impressed and pleased with Dr. Fuller. He has a great sense of humor, good bed side manner, and prompt to answer any questions.

I had researched Dr. Ali over the last year that I had been thoroughly researching this procedure. I was impressed by his experience: I had read that the medical association considers that this procedure has a 'learning curve' of about 500 cases. I specifically asked for Dr. Ali, all my paperwork had his name on it, I was scheduled with Dr. Ali, even though the surgery co-ordinator told me that the \"doctors don't like it when you try to pick one of them\" -- huh? That's not a patient-service orientated mantra. She wasn't pleased, but did pencil me in with Dr. Ali.rnrnBeing a large facility, every pre-op appointment was actually a group appointment with other patients. If they needed to see us privately, they'd put me in a room to wa-a-a-a-ait for the assortment of nutrionists, nurses, doctors' aids, etc to see us. rnrnAnyway, at my final pre-op, 3 business days before my scheduled surgery, they gave me paperwork to sign that seemed to indicate that my surgery was with Dr. Fuller instead. I asked that same surgery co-ordinator about it and she said I needed to talk to the nurse 'upstairs' when they saw me for my private room time later. rnrnLong story short: the nurse told me she couldn't reschedule me; that co-ordinator would have to. My sister had already planned time off from her job to help me post op, I had all my plans ready . . .rnrnThey sent Dr. William Fuller in to to answer my questions: he was very nice. He told me that he had done about 421 cases so far, he answered my questions frankly, he projected confidence, and he put me at ease. rnrnAfter thinking it over at home, I proceeded to have surgery with Dr. Fuller. I saw him once, for about 5 minutes, the next afternoon in my hospital room, and he was reassuring that everything went well. rnrnSurgery was only just a few weeks ago, but things are going well. I definitely WOULD reccommend Dr. Fuller. rnrnHowever, I'm still a little pissy about the bait-and-switch they pulled; they wouldn't give me a reason. I even asked if Dr. Ali was not doing surgeries much anymore, or perhaps focused more on the difficult cases, but they said no.rnrn

Dr. Fuller was the main surgeon to perform the surgery on me, with Dr. Ali there too. I have to say that Dr. Fuller is the most awesome surgeon. He is so kind and he really cares about his patients. I was pretty nervous the day of surgery, and he spent time with me reassuring me that he would take the best care of me. I honestly cannot think of a single thing that I didn't like about him. He fully explained the risks of the surgery, and he spoke of the benefits as well. His staff was also very helpful in all aspects of the surgery. They are so attentive to the needs of the patients, and they aren't abrupt and brash like some can be. The only things that I was unhappy with had to do with the anesthesia. I have a history of nausea from it, and the anesthesiologists seemed to to take that with a grain of salt and not give anything to prevent it. Also, they didn't take to heart the fact that I am allergic to morphine, and they put it in my IV anyway, which caused quite a bit of discomfort. But still, all that considered, the experience wasn't a bad one. All in all, I have to rate Dr. Fuller as the absolute best in surgical competence and in bedside manner. I did get to meet Dr. Ali not too long before I was discharged from the hospital, and he is a very kind and awesome surgeon as well. I would recommend either one of them to anyone looking to find an excellent surgeon for their procedure.

My surgeon was supposed to be Mohamed Ali, Sacramento, but ended up being William Fuller.

MY FIRST IMPRESSION WAS GOOD, HE WAS A BIT YOUNG BUT HAS DONE MANY OF THESE SURGERIES AND WORKS FOR A GREAT HOSPITAL. THE STAFF SEEMS TO BE WORK VERY WELL TOGEATHER AND THAT IS VERY IMPORTANT. AFTERCARE IS VERY MUCH EMPHASIZED BECAUSE OF THE RISK OF THE SURGERY THEY REQUIRE IF YOU LIVE MORE THAN AN HOUR A WAY THAT YOU STAY IN TOWN FOR AT LEAST A WEEK AFTER THE SURGERY. SO FAR I WOULD RATE THE DOCTOR A 10 HE HAS GIVEN ME NO REASON NOT TO TRUST AND BELIEVE IN HIM. SURGICAL COMPETENCE AND BEDSIDE MANNER ARE BOTH VERY IMPORTANT, I WORK FOR A TEAM OF DOCTORS AND PATIENTS ARE VERY CONCERNED ABOUT BOTH AND WILL LET YOU KNOW IF THEY ARE UNHAPPY WITH EITHER.

I dont know his first name but his last name is Fuller and he is at UCD Med Center on Stockton Blvd. in Sacramento, CA.rnI thought he was very personable and was impressed with the time he took to make sure you are educated. He has a very dry sense of humor and is very funny. I was impressed with his knowledge and studies along with the staff. They all make you feel very comfortable and do their best to make sure you are on track with everything you need. They all make sure you understand completely the consequences if you do not follow the guidelines set forth and will without a doubt post-pone or deny you of surgery if they dont think you will follow through with it. They are very honest about every part of it. They explain you can die, there can be problems. They also are very clear on how to prevent most problems. I think they were WONDERFUL!!! They were answered all questions, never made you feel uncomfortable. They were all very personable. They are ranked one of the top hospitals in California to have this surgery performed. It was and is a very positive experience for me.

I met Dr. Ali (Dr. Fuller's partner) during my first consultation. He was very nice and professional. I've looked up his credentials and was very impressed. He's done over 500 surgeries and UCD has a very high percentage rate for success. I love the office staff. They're very busy, but they always keep in touch. I can call them, and know that they'll call me back. Everyone in the office has been so supportive and informational. They stress the importance of losing some weight prior to your surgery, the risks, etc. rnMy surgery was actually performed by Dr. Fuller. He was awesome. He was very professional and kept my family up to date the whole time. He came to see me after my surgery to see how I was doing. I couldn't ask for a better surgeon. Thank you to Dr. Fuller, Dr. Ali and their staff.

William Fuller M. D. was my surgeon for WLS. rn I found him to be very warm and professional with a great sense of humor. He took time to listen to my concerns and answer my questions. He had a great bedside manner as did his colleague, Dr. Ali. My experiences with the clinic staff, (the Nurse Coordinator, Nurse Practioner, & Dietitians) have all been positive.
