I had lapband surgery 8/13/2010 in Georgetown Kentucky. Dr. Sonnanstine is awesome!! I like him so much that I am driving 3 1/2 hrs each way to continue seeing him now that he has moved his practice to Columbus Ohio. I am a registered nurse so I've known a lot of doctors and he is by far the best in every which way. He is kind and caring and actually takes the time to talk to me like a normal human being. He doesnt act like his time is more important than mine. He always answers all of my questions. I have had no problems with my band. If you are looking for a great surgeon with a wonderful personality, Dr. S is your doctor!!

I met Dr Tom the day of my pre op visit after he took over the practice at Fresh Start. I have to tell you I was impressed the most with his confidence. I really appreciated his sincereness and the way he asked me questions to get to know my situation for himself. I am looking forward to having my surgery with this doctor abd will report again after the proceedure.
I am 10 days out from my VSG and I am so very pleased. Everyone that works for Dr. Sonnanstine is wonderful and very courteous. They are very knowledgeable and willing to work with their patients.
Dr. Sonnanstine seemed very nice and informed me about ever step of my surgery and weight loss process. He answered all my questions and was extemely caring and friendly.
The surgery was amazing - I don't remember really ever feeling bad. I credit this to Dr. Sonnanstine and the hospital staff - they monitored me, gave me motivation and was very encouragining. I as said I am 10 days post op and I haven't had one complication.
I would highly recommend Dr Sonnanstine to anyone in the central Kentucky area interested in having sleeve, lap band or bypass surgery.

Dr. Sonnanstine did my WLS in May of last year and was just wonderful. He made me feel very good about my decision and has been there for me every month since. He has a very good personality and really cares for his patents. He takes the time to listen to you and will answer questions as long as you can ask them. I trust him completely. He did my appendectomy and will be doing my gallbladder surgery. I would recommend him to anyone who wants a hands-on surgeon that will take the time to see them each month and give them great support though out their WLS journey.

My first impression of Dr. Sonnanstine is that I thought he was a sweet heart and easy on the eye lol. He was very understanding how I felt about each surgery and didn't judge me for what I said. He didn't force me to have one certain surgery and let me know the risks of each and every single one of them. He gave his honest advice about what he thought was best for me. 3 months later after surgery I still think he's the sweetest guy ever and wouldn't change nothing about him. His office staff are very nice and friendly and seem to care about what you say or think. There was nothing that I didn't like about him. He's very thoughtful and very understanding. Future patients should know that he's not gonna make everything thing sound so easy and good. He's very honest and straight forward about each surgery and what the risks are. He makes sure you understand everything that he's talking about and is very open to answering questions that you have to asks. He doesn't try to rush you and nor does he rush his self. I thought he was very sweet and dear about how everything is going after surgery and makes sure you're ready for surgery before hand. After surgery while in the hospital...could not have asked for a better place to stay. I thought the nurses and Dr. was wonderful and caring. Really good bedside manner. All in all...If I were to rate him from 1-10...my number would be higher than 10. He's a wonderful caring surgeon and I'm very thankful that he's the one that did my surgery. I would do it all over again. If you're gonna put trust in a doctor to do your weight loss surgery. My pick is the #1 surgeon of them all...Dr. Thomas Sonnanstine

My first impression was... wow this guy is very personable. I work with different docs every day and usually they dont have a whole lot to say. Dr. Sonnanstine isnt like the rest. He took the time to answer my questions and ease my concerns about the surgery. He is very involved as a doc. He was very open and honest about risk factors actually he was pretty blunt about it which is great! He has a great personality. He is a very skilled doc. He is the best at what he does. He has a great before and after care program. I feel that I was fully prepared on what to expect after surgery. I would and do recommend him with complete confidence to anyone interested in WLS. This man is AMAZING!

I can't name one bad thing about Dr. Sonnanstine, he is absolutely the best surgeon, he did my RNY in Jan. of this year. I had lapband by a different group of doctors and had no after care to speak of. Dr. Sonnanstine sees his patients in follow up and actually cares about them. I would follow the man around the world if need be and it appears I just might be doing that.
