Dr Quilici and his staff have the process of bariatric surgery down to a fine art. Julie, his nutritionist, makes sure you know all the ins-and-outs of pre and post op care; there is a psychologist to do the evals; he has experts to take care of the insurance company and all of them manage this efficently while being sensitive, caring and friendly. Dr Quilici himself is very efficient (which can appear a little abrupt) but will answer questions and put you at your ease. He has a great reputation, is an expert at lap RNY and is a stickler for aftercare. His associate, Dr Tovar, is lovely. The only negative is that he is so busy, actually getting to see him is a chore.
I was very comfortable with Dr. Quilici. He explains everything. His office has a system that keeps all patients well aware of everything, especially in writing... in the notebook that they provide. Aftercare is definitely emphasized before the surgery, but it does seem like they really don't care after too much... ie no follow up calls, you are on your own. But, my own internist close to home keeps me monitored, so I do not worry. He is a little naracasistc when it comes to bedside manner, but I believe that he has every right to be because he is THAT GOOD!!!!
I was very impressed by Dr. Quilici. He is very knowledgable in his field. His office staff have always answered my questions to the best of their ability. I only wish one thing, that I didn't have to wait so long at my appts. But I shouldn't be so picky. Also, Dr. Tovar (Dr. Q's assistant) is just as wonderful.
I have had a wonderful experience with my surgeon's, Dr. Quilici and Dr. Tovar. I was introduced to them by a good friend who had WLS a year prior to my first visit. So I had very positive thoughts going in. The office staff was great...very friendly, and very sorry for the long, long waiting. My first impression of him was pretty simple: straight-forward and to the point...very much "matter-of-fact." I had some complications in the hospital - nothing related to the WLS - but Dr. Quilici and Dr. Tovar checked on my almost every day, coming to my room or calling me to see how I was doing. The only negative that I can think of which I've heard before is....the long wait to get into seeing them....either before surgery or post-op. They are always pretty booked so just be prepared and bring a book in!
I can't say enough positive things about my experience with them and their office staff. On a scale of 1 -10....I give them a 11!!! I just really had a positive experience looking back.
He was very nice. He instilled confidence. His offices are very neat and clean, and well organized. His staff was very friendly and caring. Always available to answer my questions.
You won't see much of him...his in and out quick. He gets to the point, and moves to his next patient. Which is nice for short and sweet visits.
He's very strict about aftercare. He will point blank tell you what you are doing wrong, and he's very serious about walking after surgery.
His nutritionalist is always available when you need her, and she meets with patients and each step of their recovery.
I would rate him a 10...I really liked him!
I was very impressed by Dr. Quilici and his staff. Dr. Quilici was very helpful and his staff took care of insurance approval for me. Did pshyc evaluation at his office and that went very well. Also, Julie the nutritionist was very helpful and even recognizes me every time I have an appointment, and let me tell you they see alot of patients. Their office is very professional, and I have been very impressed with everyone there. The only drawback that I can see is that since Dr. Quilici is a very good surgeon there is a long wait to see him. After my surgery he only came in once to see me, but I was doing great so it didn't bother me. I would rate Dr. Quilici a 9 out of 10 because he is quite busy but he is very capable and a very good surgeon. Now please understand that these are my own personal experiences and I am making no statements as to what others may experience.
