My first impression of Dr Quilici was that he was concerned about the health of his patients.
His office staff are friendly and treat his patients like real people. I have never felt like I was a bother to them, I understand we all have bad days but they have never projected it to the patients.

I love Dr. Quilici. He has been so great. I had some complications, and he took such good care of me. He came by personally every day to check on my progress. He made me feel "safe" in his care. I wish I could keep him as my PCP. The only issue is his practice is soooo busy you will have a fairly long wait at every visit. Be sure to bring your paperback to pass the time. But he is worth the wait!

Doctor Quillici is a very skilled surgeon. He was recommended by a friend who is a hospital adminstrator. As I was told... "get the best guy to rearrange your guts."

The office staff is good and the program co-ordinator is very good. Dr. Quillici required quite a bit of testing which my family doctor liked.

I haven't had too much contact at this point. He, and his partner, Dr. Tovar, run a very busy practice. Long waits at the office for very brief visits.

He is professional and capable, though not overly personable.

There is structured aftercare program.

Since I am still pretty new at this, I'll withold any judgements until I have more experience.

I paid cash for the procedure. His surgical/program fee was $6000.00

Overall, at this point, I would recommend him. I think surgical skill is his strong point... a touchy feely bedside manner is not his style.

07/05/02 - I liked Dr. Quilici very much on the first visit. He emphasized that the surgery (lap RNY) was only a tool. His office has been going through staff changes which caused communication problems. Hopefully that is all in the past. He referred me to Gaye Andrews for my psych evaluation. She's great. I went to Quilici's support group (once a month) and liked in very much. Very helpful. I didn't like Dr. Quilici as much on the second visit. He was very rushed and running an hour late. (I think it was just a bad day). The fact that I smoke may be a BIG problem. He's worried about me quitting food and cigarettes at once (so am I!). I'm now waiting for papers to be submitted to Blue Cross and hear their answer.

See my main profile. I had the surgery on 08/30/02 and now am a size 5. I highly recommend Dr. Phillipe Quilici in Burbank on Alameda Street. Very professional. No problems.

My surgeon was great. His support person was fantastic and held support group meetings. His surgical competence is amazing. Didn't really talk to him much though. I stopped taking advantage of the support groups and was embarrassed to go back. There hasn't been any follow up from the office. Easy to just disappear.

All in all I would recommend them. I feel very confident in their ability to perform the surgery.

The first time I met Dr. Quilici was in the Century City office. He was calming, supportive, encouraging, and positive. I have subsequently seen him in the Burbank office. The staff there is WONDERFUL. My only negative comment is that so many people are booked at the same time that you often have to wait. Once you are seen it seems a bit rushed. I am very happy that I chose this group for my surgery. I have seen Dr. Tovar a couple of times and he is charming and very professional.

I think when it comes to deciding who should have surgery I think it should be up to the surgeon to decide. Dr Quilici said he would do it in about 7 weeks instead some person at the insurance company said I have to wait six months.
Dr Quilici is wonderful, he knows his buisness and his office staff is amazing! So loving and sensitive to the needs of their patients. I am very confident in Dr Quilici's ability to do my surgery and for my post op to be as successful as my pre op

He is a very professional doctor, warm & carring made me feel very good about the choice I made.
Dr. Quilici's staff is wonderful very friendly and helpful.

I don't think there is anything negative about him that I have found or heard. I have talked to a lot of people that have had him as their surgeon.

Dr. Quilici is a fantastic surgeon.

There is a structure after care.

I met Dr. Quilici once for about 10 minutes. He told me he had some questions to ask me. I replied saying, "No, I'm not crazy." He said, "I'll be the judge of that." He made me laugh. He completely put me at ease and made me feel confident in his abilities.

He seemed very competent. When he was meeting me he was there with me, not having his mind elsewhere, and took time to answer all my questions. I feel very comfortable with him. His staff is a bit scattered. They are apparently moving offices and changing personnel. Some of my questions and what they needed from me and my PCP got lost in the shuffle but not for long. I really like how the doctor made sure that all of my questions were answered before he left for another appointment. He definitely addressed the risks of surgery as I specifically asked. There is an aftercare program in place. I would, as of yet, rate him very high because he seems to be competent and have a good bedside manner. He has a very good reputation. I have another meeting with him and his staff before my surgery so I will see what other impressions I get and what else I learn about things.

UPDATE: After surgery I saw him in the hallway for literally 30 seconds. He didn't come in until about 1:30 in the afternoon. This was a saturday but I still didn't get the opportunity to ask him anything. This is the only time I saw or spoke with him. I would recommend NOT having surgery on a friday. The staff was surprised I had my surgery on a friday which didn't help! Anyhow, they are usually done on monday or tuesday so request this because there is a skeleton crew on the weekends and you get very little communication! The doctors have a life too I suppose.
