Dr. Pupkova is the BEST! I feel and felt complete and total confidence in her ability, knowledge and experience. Not only a fine surgeon but a truly caring person. rnrnI was immediately impressed with the Barix Center and with Dr. Pupkova since she was the person actually conducting the information session. She spoke in layman's terms and sincerely encouraged us who were there to ask questions about what she was presenting.rnrnLater when I had the chance to meet with her in a one to one setting, she was professional and thorough, again encouraging any questions that I might have. When we wrapped it up, I extended my hand to shake but she opened her arms and embraced me. Wow, very few if any physicians would do that and I was pleasantly surprised with her openness and obvious warm nature toward others.rnrnFollowing my appointment I proceeded to do some research and discovered only positive and reassuring facts and comments about Dr. Pupkova. She holds an excellent reputation as a surgeon and has received various awards from her peers. I was also impressed to know she holds a PhD in addition to her MD, and, she has been a surgical instructor to Med students.rnrnI do not believe Dr. Pupkova left anything out in her discription of the procedure, the risks, benefits, or expectations. rnrnI feel fortunate to be a patient of such a highly regarded surgical specialist.rnrnExtra note: Dr. Pupkova is ALWAYS available to her patients, just a phone call away! Any question or concern you may have, Dr. P doesn't hesitate to take your call and if she is in surgery or cannot answer right away, SHE will call you back promptly! rnrn
My first impression of Dr. Pupkova was that she is very knowledgeable. She took the time to explain (and diagram) both procedures (Lap Band and Gastric Bypass) along with the expectation and complications of each and then let me choose which surgery I felt would be best for me. She listened to me and stressed the importance of pre-op compliance to optimize my wellness and recovery. rnrnI'm looking forward to working with her!
I can't say enough good things about Dr. P as I call her. SHE IS THE ABSOLUTE MOST FANTASTIC SURGEON EVER!! She is renowned in her field, and knows EXACTLY what is going on with all of her patients at EVERY given time. The day of surgery I was a big fat mess, crying hysterically, couldn't calm myself down. She came in, hugged me, held me soooo tight. Then she gave me a back and shoulder massage and put me at ease. Her expertise is evident at every stage of the game. She came to see me every day - sometimes more than once. She was also on the phone with the nurses often to make sure I was doing OK. She walked the halls with me when I was walking, and kept my family informed soooooo well. I thank the Lord I had such a competent professional working on me. I knew everything would go well from her. She is very warm and caring - but she is very strict about everything. And I respect that. I called her on my 6th day post op as I was having some horrible nausea and diarrhea. She told me what to do, calmed my fears - and called me FOUR times that day to check in on me, plus once the next morning. Unbelievable. Absolutely AMAZING!! Anyone going with Dr. P will be sooooooo lucky to have her.
My first impression of her was wonderful, and I was impressed with how much she understood. The longer I knew her I liker her more and more. Her office staff are all wonderfull from the recemptionist to her assistant. I wish I could have spoke with her more often, but I realize she is a very busy surgeon. Future patients should know straight away to have complete confidence in her, she wont let you down. She exphasizes aftercare strongly. She explained all risks of surgery, and was right up front with me so I was able to make an informed decision. I would rate her at the highest level. I think what makes a great compentent surgeon is a mixture of surgical competence, bedside manner, and understanding.
the first impression I had of Dr. Pupkova was she was so small...she turned out to be the sweetest doctor I have meet in a long time..she reeked of experience and you get the impression she really enjoyed what she did for a Job,,,she explained the program very well about the before surery ans the after care program,,, she explained not only the glories of having the operation she also pointed out the risk people could face including death...the office staff are amazing very friendly and very informative... I would recommend Dr. Pupkova for her surgical competence and especially her hugs that everyone gets...out of a scale from 1 to 10 and 10 being the beat ...Dr. Pupkova would be 10 plus
My first impression of her was that she wants to make sure that we all understand exactly what we are looking into you. She gave me all the information and them some. Actually answered my questions before I had a chance to ask them.rnrnHer office staff has been very patient with me. I have made numerous phone calls to the office asking about my paperwork and they were always very polite with me.
I still have not made my mind up about having surgery yet, but I met Dr. Pupkova last week and she is the best. She was very imformative and answered all of my questions honestly. She put my mind at ease about the surgery. She is nice, sweet, and caring Dr. that you can meet. She told me if I elect to have the surgery done she gives her cell number to her patients if they have any problems. If I would have the surgery just based on a doctor I would have it done today.
First impressions truly leave a mark with me...........when I first met Dr. Pupkova I was a little taken back. I am all too familiar with the arrogance many health care professionals project, not in this case. Dr. Pupkova was a very modest down to earth woman who exuded sincerity and concern for the well being of the patients attending the information seminar. She spoke in layman's terms easing our minds and answering every question in detail. She was very frank and honest about the possible complications for each possible procedure. There was a wealth of knowledge gained in the brief seminar! During my individual consultation she was very thorough in my examination and really took the time to discuss anything further that came to mind(i went with a check list and only had 2 questions left for her that weren't covered in the group mtg). She provided me with her personal cell phone number in the event any questions came to mind or if i needed to reach her during my journey. (I actually used it during my bloodwork visit because the lab had a question and she answered promptly!!!) At the end of my consult she not only shook my hand but also gave me hug! Never in my medical career did i met such caring Dr. I am very fortunate to be in her hands, her credentials are quite impressive but her genuine compassion is remarkable.
