Dr. Pupkova is absolutely wonderful. VERY caring and above-all cautious. rnrnPrior to surgery she was very clear in explaining everything including options and complications -- in real-world terms, without undue alarm and also without downplaying the seriousness of the procedure. rnrnDuring my surgery, she found lesions that prevented her from completing the procedure. Instead of continuing into an area that she was not comfortable with, she performed a partial RNY (gave me the stomach pouch without the rerouting of the intestine), did a VERY thorough exploratory of the abdomen, and closed. When I woke up, she very clearly explained what she had found, what my next steps are, and what my future options for completing the surgery are. She then gave me the same explanation the next day (when i was more alert) and even drew me pictures. She's been great about answering questions and working with my other doctors to identify and resolve the issues.rnrnI feel very very thankful that I found her and that she's the one who did my surgery!
Meeting Dr. Pupkova for only one time during an informational seminar made me feel very comfortable and trusting. I made up my mind right there and then that I will have the surgery and that she will be my surgeon. rnrnShe is a warm hearted and caring individual, straight to the point physician, and a very knowledgeable surgeon. I am so happy I ran into her.
I fell in love with Dr. Pupkova the moment my mother and I met her at the pre-op apointment. The entire Barix clinic was supportive and continues to be supportive. Dr. Pupkova seems to geniunely care about the well being of her patients. I would rate her top honors regarding her educating me about the risk of surgery, the work surgery would entail as well as all the support I would need through my wieght loss journey. I am glad I selected her as my surgeon and I would not trade her in for anything.
Very professional, very straight forward about what you and your body will go through before, during and after surgery.
I knew the moment she hugged me at my pre-op consultation that she was the right surgeon for me. She made me feel comfortable with not only her, but my decision to go ahead with the surgery.
The staff at Barix is AWESOME. They are great people.
She pushes you (post surgery) to do the most your body is able to do. I know that was the best thing for me and my recovery, so I look back and only thank her for doing that. Even though at the time, I was thinking "what have I done!"
Trust her, she really does care about you and your health. She listens to questions and answers them so that you are clear and informed.
She STRONGLY emphasizes aftercare. The book that Barix gives you has become a tool that I use daily. I couldn't go day to day without it. It explains everything that should be done before, right after and YEARS after surgery.
I felt very informed of the risks of the surgery. I had never had surgery before in my life and was terrified, so believe me, if she didn't make me feel comfortable by explaining everything I needed to know, I WOULD NOT HAVE GONE THROUGH WITH IT!
I think regarding myself, surgical competence outweighs bedside manner but when it comes to Dr Pupkova, I was lucky enough that she has both!
Going in for surgery on Nov. 3, I felt a soothing calmness come over me knowing that Dr. Pupkova was my surgeon. She has got such a wonderful personality and caring attitude towards all of her patients as well as having an impecable reputation as a surgeon! I also feel very comfortable in knowing that if I have any problem whatsoever, I can call her 24-7. She also tells it like it is, no sugar coating which is what patients need who are going through this surgery, because it is a lifelong commitment on our part.
