Lawrence Dennen Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.
All I can say is I'm thankful Dr. Dennen is my surgeon. From the moment we met him at the initial group class all the way through he was open, honest, compassionate, caring, helpful, descriptive and I could go on and on. No matter what questions I asked him or differences of opionins we had he took the time to explain in detail why he did what he did or thought what he thought. My surgery was a week ago today and I'm doing great.
I first met Dr. Dennen at the informational seminar that all potential patients have to attend. He didn't know it at the time but he made such an impression on me. He is straight to the point and it deeply effected me. The Kaiser Fremont program is absolutely the best. The team is professional, caring, knowledgable and extremely organized. Dr. Dennen explained the procedures and made his recomendation for me as the RNY. I had my procedure on 4/28/10. Dr. Dennen is a fantastic surgeon, I had my pain well managed in the hospital. I did not have any complications. The aftercare program is extremely clear and well organized everything from the post op appointments to the meetings with the nutritionist. This surgery is a very serious matter and I couldn't have asked for any better care than that of Dr. Lawrence Dennen at Kaiser in Fremont.

December 5th,2008 today I met with Dr. Lawrence Dennen (Chief of the Bariactric Department). This was my consultation, Dr. Dennen gave a friendly and professional first impresssion. He was knowledgable about the various WLS procedures and took the time to explain the pros and cons of each. His staff at the "Bariatric Center at Kaiser Permanente Hospital" was friendly and prompt with returning call about any questions I had before and afer the office visit. He is a skilled surgeon. I am pleased to have been approved for the RNY procedure and I will give you more information once I have a date and the surgery is done. Thank you for allowing me to share.

I spoke to my surgeon's program coordinator (Nancy) darn it I have to come down to 210lbs before they will set my appointment with the pysch for the evaluation. Thank goodness I do not have that much more to go.I can't wait. Well ass of January 29th I am at that 210 weight goal for the psych appointment, and yes it has been set for Feb 5th. I can't explain what I am feeling at this point, nervous, happy, excited and scared to death. But I thank God it is almost there and I will be a healthier me.
I have just had my procedure and my doctor is the best, he is all I thought he would be and his staff took excellent care of me. Dr. D did tell me to stay off the scale for about 2 weeks (LOL).
Well it is now 6 motnhs out from my procedure and I am in it to win it, the race as been good to me. I am at 165lbs and feeling great. I am exercising but not like wish I could, work and family tired etc. I am very please however with the entire process, I have soooo .... much more energy. I feel sexy, I feel alive, I can tie my own shoe (LOL).....I can shave and see what I am shaving (this is big for me). I will post some pics very soon, coming from 226lbs to 165 in this short period of time is a gift from GOD and my doctor.

I had a great first impression of Dr. Dennen. He was the doctor that informed me of the operation at my orientation, that I went to twice (once for me, once for my husband). I was so impressed that I requested him to be my surgeon. Over time I have only been more impressed by his intelligence, knowlege, and compasion. His office staff is increadible. They operate very efficiently. The staff is always helpful and friendly. No matter how many times you call to bother them. Nancy is the corrdinator and how she does her job so well is impressive. She as a massive amount of responsiblility and she handels it very well. Honestly I can't think of one thing I don't like about Dr. Dennen. The only thing I would want to change is mabey to have an earlier surgery date (who doesn't)but I only waited 5 months from Orientation to Surgery Date so from what I here that is pretty good. I also wanted a vertical sleeve and Northern Kaiser doesn't approve that kind of surgery so I have to get an RNY instead. Future patients should know that he is very easy to talk to. My husband also had his surgery by him and my husband is a very nervous patient but he felt incredibly comfortable with Dr. Dennen as do I. He definently incourages you to use the aftercare program that is well organized. He is very informative about every aspect of the surgery that includes before, during, and after surgery. I have never met a more competent doctor than Dr. Dennen and his bedside manner is awsome! Overall on a range from 0-10 I would give him 1000! and Im very picky about my doctors.

Dr. Dennen was exactly how I thought he would be after reading other posts on OH. He is friendly, very nice, but very professional. I didn't get the typical feeling I get when I go to the doctor, that I'm fat and unhealthy, like I'm less of a person because of it.rnrnDr. Dennen has so far been great. I'll write again when I get to know him better.
WELL MY FRIST VIST ON MY PART DID'NT GO TO WELL, I GUSS THAT I WAS IN DISBELIVE THAT I WAS FINALLY IN HIS OFFICE, DR.DENNEN WENT OVER A LOT OF THING THAT DAY AND WHEN IT WAS TIME FOR ME TO ASK QUESTION, \"I WENT BLINK\". HE COULD NOT BELIVE THAT I DID'NT HAVE ANY THING TO SAY. WHAT I LIKE MUST OF HIM IS THAT HE IS SO FOR SURE OF HIS SELF,THAT HE GET TO THE POINT, AND WANT LET YOU GET AWAY WITH ANTING. IF YOU AREN'T WILLING TO DO WHAT HE TELL YOU. MOVE ON. HIS TIME IS FOR PATIENS THAT ARE WILLING TO GIVE UP THEIR LIVES, SO THEY CAN LIVE.
