I liked Dr Wallace right off the bat. It did however take forever to get an appointment( called in Aug 2003 and first seen him one on one Jan. 19, 2004. I felt he knew his stuff and was kind enough to answer everyones questions at the orientation meeting with out making them feel like an idiot. He was very up front and told it like it was. He made sure everyone knew the risks of the surgery as well as the lifestyle changes that will need to be made. When I met him in the office one on one he said that I snacked way to much and needed to get that under control as well as quit smoking. He thought it would be to hard for me to do both. That he would tell me I COULDNT DO something made me mad but I showed him.Ha ha. The one thing that that I didnt like was he would sometimes not talk and leave this uncomfortable silence it was a bit unnerving. There is a very structured after care program for at least 5 years. Over all I rate Dr. Wallace a 9 out of 10 only losing a point for the silent moments. I completely trust his surgical skills as Freodert is a teaching hospital and he is the teacher. I would recomend him and the hospital.

My first impression was not very good.
He turned out to be a great doctor, I feel I can tell him anything and he is extremely helpful.
His staff is wonderful.
I cant say anything bad about him now. He and his team are great.
Aftercare is very important.
Overall very satisfied with the whole process.

he was a very nice man to meet. he made me feel comfortable right away. He explained to me that this was not going to be easy and it was the beginignof a different life style. He gave me alot to think about after the first meeting. The one thing i didn't like was that i only saw him three times. that very first meeting and then two times in the hospital. (one of those was just before i was put out.I would tell anybody interested to talk to him, i trust him.

I had my surgery on 11/25/03 with Dr. Wallace. I first met him at the orination meeting when he described the surgery in detail and answered any questions we had. I found him to be a very good man, he is so caring and thoughtful . I found him to be very compassionate with his patients. His staff were all very nice and treated me with respect and kindness. I would recommend Dr. Wallace 100% to anyone in my area, for the WLS surgery.

I first met Dr Wallace at Froedtert's Bariatric Surgery Program orientation program. He spoke on the surgery and was very informative. He is a "tell it like it is" person, does not beat around bushes. Very open to questions and spoke freely. He also has surrounded his practice with a staff that is very knowledgeable and caring. Each member, each time I saw them made me feel at ease.

I would recommend Froedtert’s program to anyone it is very thorough. It gets a A+ from me for overall rating.

Dr. Wallace is very professional, kind, direct and sincere. His surgical skills are excellent and I had the utmost confidence in him prior to surgery. He lets you know that he is very good at what he does, but his patients will only be successful if they follow the rules. He is very strict about the program and will give you heck if you don't adhere to it. His staff is also very committed to the program and support us in every way possible. I know I made a good choice. Dr. Wallace and the Froedert team are first rate.

Dr. Wallace i think is a very good doctor, who genuinely wants to help. he is very straight forward and to the point. he took his time with me and my fiance and i didnt feel rushed, he was willing to answer any questions i asked and didnt beat around the bush for an answer nor did he hem and haw on the tough questions. he emphasizes after care quite a bit and lets you know that if you dont follow the "rules" your weight loss / health will not be as good.. he does have a structured aftercare program.
the wait at the clinic to get in to see him was long, but i suspect that is due to the time he spends with his patients.

Went today to see my surgeon, Dr. Nakeeb, for the first time. He is a very kind, pleasant, friendly man. Almost immediately he made me feel very comfortable. I did have a kind of long wait when I got there, my appointment was at 3pm, and didn't get in until about 3:30, and then waited about 15 min. in the room after the nurse took my bp and pulse, but it was not a big deal to me. Dr. Nakeeb explained that it was a very hectic day and everyone is entitled to one of those days! :)
I know I don't know a lot about him yet, but I do have a very good first impression of him. His office staff was very nice also.

UPDATE: July 31, 2003
Got the phone call from Froedert hospital that my insurance went thru and that I have a date! I was told that Dr. Nakeeb is leaving Froedert hospital and that my surgery will be performed by Dr. Wallace. I have a friend who is also scheduled for rny with Dr. Wallace in Sept. and I saw Dr. Wallace at my informational class. He seems very nice and has a cute sense of humor. I am looking forward to this ( a bit scared but I know it will all be worth it! ). I am not sure why Dr. Nakeeb is leaving but if I find out I will post. THANKS! :)

He was a very understanding and considerate man.
My impression has never changed he was the same the last time I saw him.
His office staff is considerate and very willing to help.
I would like to see him a time or two during my follow-ups.
He is the easiest and most kind Doctor I have met.. He treats you like he is TRULY concerned and caring..
I have been back to see the Nurse practioner many times. I was just there for my 6 month check and will return in 3 months... I think the support is excellent. This if very important for the success and continuation of your weight loss, you are always given information and instructions pertinent to the stage of loss you are at.. They spend time with you and listen.. So far the help as been outstanding.
The risks were presented with openness and honesty.. They explained it very well.
Dr James Wallace is a wonderful Doctor and I would recommend him highly to anyone and all that are debating this surgery...
I think the competence is what everyone is looking for, but bedside manner is what we are all hoping for... He has both!!!
I just was a bit disenchanted once when I started losing my hair and emailed one of the staff... I guess I was disappointed because of the state of mind I was in and because they didn't tell me what I WANTED to hear.. none the less. I was given some resolution and in trying it, it helped... Below you say no one could be 100% positive but my experience has been just that at least 99% positive...
