I felt so comfortable with doc. Rumsey when I first met him. He spent so much time with my husband and I and totally put us at ease with our decisions. After surgery he came and visited me everyday in the hospital. I was there for four days.. He explained everything that I was going through. He is by far the best surgeon and or doc. that I have ever had.rnEven the staff at the hospital say that he is the best.. They all seem to just love him.
I loved Dr.Rumsey he was awesome. He was very easy to talk to and he makes you feel very comfortable. He tells you that surgery is just a tool not a quick fix so never think it is going to be easy. He gives you all the information tells you that there is always a chance you can gain the weight back if you don't follow the protcol. Overall he is a very good doctor.
When I first met Dr. Rumsey the day of my pre surgery appointments I thought he was nice and professional, but wasn't sure if he would be a good fit for me, but I was very pleasantly surprised to find that he was the perfect surgeon for me and I could not have asked for a better surgeon to do my gastric bypass. He is top notch in my book and there's no better, not to mention his bedside manner with his patients is perfect. He is professional, friendly and has a great sense of humor. He was very clear in his instructions for me to follow in my aftercare.rnWhen I went to my pre op visit to Dr. Rumsey's office he went over all the risk that comes along with the gastric bypass and he completely put my mind at ease. He answered any questions I had and expressed how the 79 lbs I'd already lost in preparation for the surgery will lessen the risk and make it much easier for me post surgery. I now totally believe him because I had no pain or nausea after the surgery. I had my surgery on Friday and he came to see me on Saturday. He didn't rush and took his time explaining how well the surgery went and if I continued to feel as great as I did, I would likely go home on Monday.rnThe next day Dr. Tanaka came to visit and he too has a great bedside manner... I can't say enough good things about the Bariatric surgeons at Pacific Bariatric, especially Dr. Rumsey. He is everything you could want in a surgeon and if I had it to do all over again, I would choose him. I should also mention that all the nursing staff at Scripps Mercy Hospital are awesome as well.
When I first walked into the doctors office I was greeted by a women who seemed to busy to deal with me but she did. Then I got called into the back office where I was greeted by a wonderful nurse who was very pleasant. I then went into the doctors office where I waited for Dr. Rumsey. I was nervous waiting for him becuase I had no clue of what to expect. When he came in I was surprised! He was a jolly man and since it was so close to the holidays I thought he reminded me of Santa Claus. His smile was very welcoming and made me feel at ease. Dr. Rumsey explained the process and asked me if I had any questions. He gave me a book that had all of the info lined out that I needed to know before the surgery, during the hospital stay and then for returning home.
My hospital stay was great. Dr. Rumsey and also his partner came and checked on me everyday. I was surprised I was visited by two doctors.
Dr. Rumsey emphasizes that you have an excercise routine, eat healthy and reminds you of the importance of the vitamins. I asked him how much walking I should be doing and he told me that by my 12 week check-up I should be walking for one hour!
I think Dr. Rumsey is a great doctor to have for this surgery. His surgical competence and bedside manner were both great!
I could have gone to Inland Valley, about 20 minutes from my house and kept leaning towards Pacific Bariatric and Scripps. Dr. Zorn led the seminar I went to months ago and I really liked him. I liked Pacific's team approach, but for some reason, I wanted Dr. Rumsey. I say it was God looking out for me. I was thrilled when I got my letter telling me he was my surgeon. I liked him from my first preop appointment with him. He's professional, but warm and kind. I can't think of any area I'd suggest for improvement for him. I think he's wonderful. rnrnI had an emergency complication with my surgery and Dr. Rumsey was by my bedside in minutes. I am thoroughly convinced, as is my husband, that I would have died at Inland Valley. Dr. Rumsey is wonderful. I feel fortunate to call him my surgeon.
The fisrt time I meet him was at the seminar in Anaheim. I really wasn't rating him. The seminar was similar to one of those paid advertisments you see on tv. He had every answer to every question thrown at him and he was very methodical and professional. So I thought to my self that was a very prepped doctor..Looks like he's up on his game. Then when I realized he was my Surgeon I went in with a different consciousness during my consultation visit. He came in very polite I shoke his hands. They were strong, ruff and needed a little cream. He smiled alot which was very comforting. I had my questions. He was very non chalant about one of them ..Stubbled on another one and had a very matter of fact attitude on the rest. I could feel his confidenceand vunerability, which I liked. Being that he has done hundreds of operation all you have to do is look at his track record and realize how experienced he is in this field.
