Ernest Rehnke Bariatric Surgeon M.D.,F.A.C.S.
My first impression was he was quiet. It seems like he has a perma grin on his face. Such a happy man. But don't let the soft exterior get to you this man is tough! He will tell you how it is and what it is. But he means well. He wants to help and is a busy man. I only saw him for a brief moment the morning after surgery but he was as happy as could be. I give this man two thumbs up and a big thanks for giving me this tool.
My 1st impression at the overall office was good. Very friendly staff. My impression of Dr. Rehnke was one of Careing, Knowledgeable, and a very sharp dresser! (nice suit Doc.) My Lap-Band Surgery is scheduled for 3/27/07 up to this point all my questions have been answered. I can't say enough about Kelly, just a wonderful person to deal with, answered all my emails, phone calls, you name it she was on Top of it! I have been told by Dr. Rehnke and his staff that the after care is Critical to suceed. rnAs soon as I go post-Op I will let you know about the aftercare. rnAs of right now I would give Dr. Rehnke and his Entire Staff a 10+.
I was more than pleased with the level of care and compassion that Dr. Rehnke and his staff has conveyed since day one. He is an incredible man and I trust that he will make my new tummy a work of art :-)rnrnUPDATE: While Dr. Rehnke was a fabulous surgeon, I was less than pleased with his treatment in the follow up visit. Because of that I stayed away for 15 months after my surgery. I just got up the courage this week to find a new surgeon to do my follow up work. 02/26/07
I finally got to meet Dr.Rehnke!!! I had my consult with him almost 2 weeks ago. My husband and I went in and sat down with one of his nurses who was a very nice older lady. She took my history and my family history and talked to us a bit. After leaving we sat there for almost 45 minutes before Dr.Rehnke showed up, but we understood. He's a VERY busy man. He came in, sat down, shook our hands and I felt completely at ease with him right away. He went over the surgery and everything involoved and said he should be able to do the surgery laprascopically on me (which is what I was hoping for). He did say if he ran into any problems that he wouldn't hesitate to open me up and finish the procedure that way. He rushed through our meeting, but working in a hospital, I understand, that's what surgeons do...they rush. We were done with him in about 10 minutes. He said that his office would be in contact with me about my insurance paperwork and we'd get the ball rolling. It's been 2 weeks and I haven't heard from anyone, so I am going to call tomorrow and see what the next step is. All in all though I would reccomend Dr. Rehnke. We'll see how it goes if I am approved for surgery. :-)
below is from years ago- it october 2006 ive chosen to go with Dr Rehnke again. rn--------------------------------rni met with rehnke and im definatly impressed wish i had made the decission to have him as my surgeon from the get go...his staff is wonderful especially pattyrn(this is from my first surgeon dr haicken)Well i had my 1st consultation with elise dr haickans nurse on monday 12/10 it went very fast.i got most of my questions answered,i was pleased with the entire office except the chairs with arms,,lol.almost done with pre op testing hope to meet dr haickan himself soon!
Liked him, immediately. Felt very comfortable and unafraid. Recommended by other coworkers as well. I discussed the few things I felt uneasy about i.e. having Asthma and complications that may arise. I made a \"to do\" list, get clearance from specialists. I feel he is equally competent in surgery and bedside manner. The Office staff is overwhelmed and very busy, but always takes time to be pleasant and answer my questions right away or calls me back immediatly. There is a message board which I make use of, it has become very helpful to me and a monthly support group and if i need help with anything I can call the office. Overall, I would rate this Dr and his surgical skills and staff a 9 out of 10!rnrn
I met Dr. Rehnke and his associate Dr. Grosbard for their required seminar about bariatric surgery last year. I also worked extensively with their nurse, Susan Kay, R.N. rnrnThe seminar itself was amazingly informative. Dr. Grosbard did most of the talking throughout. He has a LapBand himself. You could tell he is a bit of a character, but in an affable sort of way. It was a very interactive seminar, very enjoyable, even entertaining at times thanks to Dr. G, not at all boring, and they patiently and thoroughly answered all questions. Both surgeons stayed on afterwards to speak with people individually, and I had the opportunity to meet and speak Dr. Rehnke, asking him several questions I had wanted to address to him personally. I have worked in the medical field for quite some time, and although I hate to say it, I have had a LOT of negative experiences with physicians, both on a personal and professional level. My experience with Dr. Rehnke was completely on the contrary. He was friendly, personable, very patient and very willing to answer all of my questions, seemed genuinely happy to be spending his time there to help me and the other potential patients. I am very much looking forward to working with him further and based on my experience with him thus far, would recommend him and his staff highly. rnrnSusan Kay has also been a delight to work with (and also has the LapBand,) even with repeated pestering, which I have subjected her to with all these problems with my insurance. She has been patient, honest, and direct, always helpful in any way she can be. rnrnDuring the seminar, aftercare is REALLY stressed, as it should be. They provided information about all of the resources available before and after surgery, including parties and picnics. They were very open about all risks and complications involved, not only with LapBand and Roux-en-Y, but several other procedures. rnrnI will be seeing Dr. Rehnke again in the next couple of weeks and will keep this updated.
Dr. Rehnke is a nice person. His office is professional and always helpful, so that makes it good for me! He has a structured aftercare program to help post-ops and this is a good thing. He did speak of the risks associated with this surgery and I appreciate him for being upfront and honest. I would rate him a 9 out of 10. His surgical competence is first rate, and his bedside manner can be improved (that was my opinion while I was in the hospital--I could have just been moody and ready to leave). Other than that.....I have no complaints. He's wonderful and very caring! I highly recommend him!!
