I had attended 2 pre surgery seminar's at Sinai prior to my initial consultation with Dr. Li. I had seen her speak to a group and was impressed with her level of compassion for an entire group gathering to make a huge decision. When I met her for my initial consultation her personality continued to be one of positive, supportive, sensitive, and friendly. Coupled with her obvious skill, knowledge, and record, I was feeling pretty good about her. At the end of the appointment she huggedme and said \"welcome to the group\" and I instantly knew I was home! One of my pre op tests had a questionable something on it, and she was very responsive to my concern, and even had a staff member make a CAT scan appointment for the next morning to rule out anything serious without postponing my surgery. (Thankfully it was nothing!) The entire office staff has been fantastic, responsive, flexible and friendly. My surgery went off without any complications, I am 1 week out and feel fantastic. The Sinai program emphasizes that this is not a 1 time operation -there is preparation to be done before hand, and a path to follow afterwards, forever. They provide the tools, support, and information needed to do so, and they present it in a fantastic manner! rn**************************************rnAfter returning to Sinai for an abdominal obstruction 11 days post op, I need to update here! Unfortunately I had this little bump in the road, and when I did, Dr. Li was out of town. But thankfully, Dr. Koppman and Dr. Gandas were available to take care of my problem on a Sunday night. I was amazed at how compassionate Dr. Koppman was throughout the day on the phone and while I was waiting to be seen in the ER. He had called ahead to arrange a CAT scan with the surgeon on ER duty, and as soon as it was done, he was there. I was in surgery within a couple of hours, and throughout a 6 day hospital stay, all 3 surgeons of the Sinai program were in my room checking on me daily. (including Dr. Gandas via the Robot! AMAZING!) The entire Sinai Bariatric program staff have been amazing throughout the orginal surgery and the set back.
If you are considering WLS and live in the Baltimore area, I would highly recommend visiting with the Bariatric team at Sinai Hospital and - most importantly - scheduling time with Dr. Christina Li. Dr. Li performed gastric bypass surgery on me on 2/23/2007. In addition to her experience and skill as a surgeon (no complications whatsoever for me), I was impressed with her thoroughness, straightforward manner and her warmth as a human being. You can expect your appointments with her will cover medical facts, risks and benefits delivered with professionalism characterized by patience and warmth. She accomodated special requests I had for my surgery date, telephoned an out-of-town family member at my request to review and update them on my post-op condition and has made herself - and her team - available throughout (pre and post surgery). My WLS went like clockwork, thanks to Dr. Li. She and her team educated me on my surgical options, gave me the tools I needed to get approved by insurance, taught me about nutrition, vitamins, exercise, prepared me for the surgery itself and are providing ongoing education, support and medical supervision. I did a lot of research in considering surgeons and my positive, complication-free outcome with Dr. Li affirms the reputation I had heard about. I would rate my overall experience with her as \"excellent\".
My first impression of Dr.Li was she was very young. However, I found her to be very warm and intellegient about Bariatric Surgery.Over time my impression of her intelligence increased as she answered all of my questions and/or concerns. Office staff was very nice and helpful expecially the nursing staff. Financial/insurance vertification staff however were slow with returning phone calls.I liked everthing about Dr.Li. Future patients should know that she emphasizes the importance of family support.Considering I received the Lapband she let me know immediately that aftercare participation is crucial to my success. This program has a very detailed aftercare program. The risks of surgery were discussed at all the seminars and at my last post op appt before surgery. From scale of 1-10, 10 being the best Dr. Li bedside manner and skill is a 10.Both were better than great they were superb.
It seemed as if I could try every diet, exercise program, and diet supplement and would never loose the weight. For years I struggled with my weight, through high school and even more after the birth of my daughter. With a family history of diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and obesity I had to find a better way to deal with my own obesity and get it under control once and for all. After going for the first group meeting and discussing options, it was clear to me that I wanted Dr. Li to be my surgeon. She spoke to the group honestly and she was incredibly direct. rnrnThis was my first surgery and I needed to make sure that Dr. Li was the right person for me. As with any change you make in your life you never know what exactly to expect, but Dr. Li really cares about you and your results. I felt confident in choosing her as my surgeon, and could not have been more comfortable with her during the entire process. rnrnIt’s been 3 months since my surgery and I have not had any problems. I have gained confidence in my personal life as well as my professional life, and have taken on more challenges that I would have never considered before my weight loss. The entire team, Danielle, Nancy, Paula, and Karen have all been willing to answer questions and provide me with a level of comfort that makes going to the office a pleasant experience. rnrnI can not thank Dr. Li and the staff enough for providing me with the tools to give myself a better chance at life. As a single mother it is imperative that I am able to be involved in my daughters’ life and now I am. Thank you!rn
Dr. Li, is wonderful..She came in early from leave to see me! She was very warm and comforting. She explained the risks of the surgery 1st then the benefits. She has surrounded herself with the BEST staff whom some have had the surgery. They all were very helpful..Karen is the best! Dr. Li gave me the impression that my health was first and that was exactly what I was looking for! Hooray for the Sinia Bariatric Team.
I was impressed immediately with Dr. Li because she actually gave a presentation at her pre-op seminar and stayed around for questions after the seminar. I know that sounds like a small thing but the first surgeon I visited never showed up at 3 seminars I attended. His PA gave the presentations. Dr. Li immediately made me feel at ease during my first visit with her. She explained everything and laid out clearly what I needed to do before the surgery. The best part is that she gives me a hug after each visit, which is just a very nice gesture. Her practice is also very well organized and the entire process is choregraphed. I always feel like my questions are answered and the staff go to bat for you if you are having trouble getting responses from other health professionals during the pre-op testing. They work hard to get you to your surgery. During my surgery, she kept my wife informed and my wife described how Dr. Li made her feel at ease that I was going to be OK. I do not remember this because I was already under the influence of the pre-op sedative they gave me, but my wife said that Dr. Li stopped the gurney I was on as they were pushing me back for my surgery so my wife could give me a kiss. If you have any qustions, please shoot me a post or an e-mail. I do not have any negative comments or any criticisms at all. I cannot emphasize enough how much I would highly recommend Dr. Li if you are looking for a top notch bariatric surgeon.
Dr. Li is an extreemly competent, well credentialed and personable bariatric surgeon. She fully explained the procedure, including what could go wrong and everything she said has so far been exactly correct. Her office staff is plesant and competent and includes receptionists, RN, dietician and others. She requires attendance at at least two seminars and a pre-surgery class before surgery where procedures are discussed , previous patients are in attendence to answer questions as well as the surgeons and dietary information is throughly explained. Her aftercare program is very comprehensive w/ a two week post-surgery office app't, a 6 wk post op ajustment if necessary and additional follow-up app'ts every 6wks as necessary. There is a transition nutrition class before starting on soft food diet and the services of the nutritionist are available for 1 yr. I would rate Dr. Li as an outstanding surgeon and would recommend her to anyone without reservation. Both her surgical competence and bedsid mannar are outstanding.
My first impression of Dr. Christina Li was very memberable, she was very polite and very informative about WLS. Dr. Li makes you feel like you are her only patient that's how personable she is. And every visit that you have with her she always end your visit with a hug, I've never had a doctor that hugs their patient, making you feel you can trust them with your health. Dr. Li staff is very friendly, and you can call them at any time or e-mail them at anytime. The nutristionist Nancy Lum is very nice and cares about your journey into WLS and after WLS. Her pre-opertive class on how to eat before surgery and after surgery is very helpful. She explained the risk of surgery up until the day of surgery, She sat you down and wrote down all the risks factors of the surgery and explained every one to you so that you would understand what you were about to do with your life. That's why i went into the surgery with faith in god , and in Dr. Li, They have a aftercare program that lasts for the rest of your life as long as you need them. Overall my experience with Dr. Li. and the whole biatric team at Sinai is great. I rate Dr. Li at 90%, I would recommend anyone to her.
I was really impressed with her dedication to this life changing surgery. She makes sure that you understand the risks associated with the surgery. She was really caring and encouraging after my surgery. I was really impressed that I was able to walk the evening after the surgery and I experienced very little post-op discomfort. I have already recommended her to several of my friends and I think that the program @ Sinai is the best in the state.
