I found this surgeon which is also close to my home base. I have called his office and you have to go through a seminar first and then after that if you think you still want the surgery, you get an appt. Their seminar is supposedly scheduled for 1st Sat in March. I left my name on the list but am calling back to find out more today which is Feb 14,03.
Highly motivated, energetic, very skilled.
I didn't notice any change.
Has a women in charge of the program who I would say is also very motivated & energetic.
I think at times she was a little overwhelmed by all the insurance paperwork, I kept asking for a date, and couldn't get a definite date until close to surgery.
Aftercare is a big thing with them, support group once a month is encouraged as are any questions post op to call office.
A lot of information was given at a symposium by the surgeon, anesthesiologist, and former patients, also at that time if you were interested in going further, handouts were given with pamplets, web sites etc.
I would rate the overall care as excellant.
Both surgical competence and bedside manner were excellant.
My first impression of Dr. Onopchenko was that he had a kind face. And I felt that I could trust him with my life. Anyone who can smile as much as he is a good sign. His staff members are also kind and very concerned about the "whole" patient, not just the surgery, they care about the whole you....and AFTER surgery too.
I am only 12 days until my surgery, so aftercare and beside manner will be updated.
