I am so looking forward to meeting Dr. Onopchenko. He is a friend of the physician I work for and he comes highly recommended. I also reviewed some websites on him and his patients seem to love him. As a nurse, that is a great recommendation in and of itself. I have an appointment coming up soon and will follow up on my impression.
Very formidable and warm man. His staff is very professional and helpful. Aftercare is crucial with him and he requires that you see a nutritionist in his office before and after your surgery. He does discus risks, is severely anti-smoking to a point that he will not operate on people who smoke. More after surgery!!
My 1st impression of Dr. O is that he is a very caring and skilled surgeon. I know that I will be well taken care of. I didn't feel rushed at all by him or his staff during my first visit. rn~*~*~*~rnPost-Op and I still think Dr. O is a skilled and caring surgeon. The nuses at the hospital say that Dr. O wants things a certain way for his patients and he gets what he wants. I was having a kind of tough day right after surgery and Dr. O joking said it's called buyer remorse which made me smile.
I have only good things to say about Dr. O. He is, and always has been, very professional. From the very beginning, Dr. O lets you know the good and the bad. He does not sugarcoat anything. His seminars are very, very informative. His regime is strict. He has a funny disposition and great sense of humor...which helped me to relax. Not once are you made to feel less than human because of your weight. He is there to help and does so. His staff is terrific also. From the initial contact to today, which for me is three years post op, they continue to provide care and counseling. You do not become an abandoned patient. His aftercare program is crucial and very well organized. I continue to see him, now on a yearly basis. I have not been abandoned. Of course, if anything would concern me at all....Dr. O and his staff are there to help. The only draw back that I can add to this is to prepare to wait in the office. Dr. O is very busy and does not rush you with your visit, so the waiting time is long....so expect that.
I was very impressed when I first went to the seminar. He was very honest and upfront about the surgery. aftercare, pretesting. When I finally got my consult I was so pleased to see what a genuinely caring and nice guy he was, I did not feel he was doing surgery for the money, but because he cared about his patients. I saw him end of July and had all my testing done in Aug. I am just waiting for them to recieve the letters from the Doctors I had to see. The only thing was because he was moving to a new location they did not have my chart with them, so I am also in the process of contacting all the doctors to make sure they send their reports to the right number. And at his old office they were very nice to me about getting my chart to him ASAP.
VERY PROFESSIONAL OFFICE STAFF FRIENDLY AND KNOWLEDGEABLE .FUTURE PATIENTS SHOULD KNOW TO FOLLOW THE RULES THAT HE GIVES YOU GO TO ALL MEETINGS ,SUPPORT GROUP AND APPTS. I WOULD RATE HIM VERY HIGH IN MY BOOK . OVERALL I HAD THE BEST CARE EVERY QUESTION WAS ANSWERED WITHOUT A PROBLEM AND AGAIN I WOULD SEND OTHER PEOPLE TO SEE HIM IF THEY WERE INTERESTED. NO NEGATIVE COMMENTS
My surgeon Dr. Onopchenko aka Dr. O is a consumate professional who's dedicated to helping obese people change their lives for the better. When I first met him...I was immediately comfortable with him. He is very knowlegable about both the RNY and Lapband and honest about anticipated weightloss and or potential dangers regarding both procedures. He requires a thorough medical evaluation before he will perform the surgery and will not hesistate to suggest weightloss prior to surgery as was the case with me. I hated that part but in the end losing some of the weight before surgey has been one of my most proudest accomplishements. Dr. O encourages a strong emphasis on aftercare which includes return visits every 6 weeks, nutritional followups and the benefit of becoming physically fit. Dr. O is a charismatic, funny, easy going man with incredibly strong but soft hands. LOL. I noticed that one time when we shook hands. And I told him \" I feel comfortable knowing these hands will do my surgery\" His staff Doreen, Laurie, and everyone else were all efficient, supportive, empathetic, and friendly. I would highly recommend his practice to anyone considering this lifestyle change. With Dr. O as your surgeon you are sure to make it to the winning (loser's side) safely !
My first impression of Dr. Ono was a very positive one. He has a wonderful personality and a great bedside manner. He is very thorough and makes sure that his patients understand what is really involved with this surgery. It is a life altering tool, not a quick fix, and you will completely understand this by the time you have surgery.rnrnEveryone that I have come into contact with in his office has been really nice and extremely helpful.rnrnDr. Ono's program has what I would consider a pretty strict before and after care program. Requiring meetings with the nutrionalist and the support group, both of which were very helpful.rnrnI would rate the program as really good overall. And I would have to say that Dr. Ono has both a wonderful bedside manner, and is very competent surgically.
