The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Ctr Bariatric Surgery Bariatric Center
I have not met Dr. Needleman yet.
I have gone through nutrition classes and staff is great. I am waiting for surgery approval. I was approved when I was going to go through the bariatric treatment center, but changed my mind to OSU and I guess I have to go though all the red tape again.
They have aftercare and nutrition classes before surgery. I am very impressed with that.
UPDATE, I MET HIM 12-30-02, HE WAS GREAT.
VERY NICE AND SEEMED TO REALLY CARE AND SEEMED TO KNOW WHAT HE WAS TALKING ABOUT.
Dr. Needleman at Ohio State University is a fellowhip director to train surgeons in the laparoscopic technique of the gastric bypass. As I am a nurse practitioner I only wanted the best surgeon at a highly reputable hospital, and I got both!!! It took a lot of research for me to trust my guts with a surgeon for an elective weight loss surgery at the young age of 30.
he kept me waiting for an hour and twenty minutes in an exam room.
he was very thorough with his explanation.
office staff was really nice but not familiar with auxilliary office.
He seemed bored with the information and stated that he has repeated it over and over.
No one has mentioned a structured aftercare to me since I finished my nutrition classes. I need to call the administrator of the OSU program and find out about it. They are not good at telling you what to do next. I have had to push them often to get next step.
These are my personal opinions and I hope that they will improve. I am not really a negative person but I do expect assistance and direction.
My first impression of Dr. Needleman was that he is a very down to earth man and does NOT have the typical doctor mentality or ego. He is very east to talk to and is extremely generous with his time during an appointment. His secretary, Suzy, is a great help! She is very friendly and eager to help in what ever wat she can! I can't think of anything I didn't like about Dr. Needleman or Suzy!! Dr. Needleman does have a structured aftercare program. That is one reason I chose the program at OSU. They require you to commit to several appointments after the surgery! I would rate Dr. Needleman AND the program at Ohio State as your best choice for healthcare, surgery, aftercare AND support before and after surgery! Dr. Needleman does the surgery lap and that is one big plus for a quick recovery! He is a great choice!! I HIGHLY recommend him!! As of this date I really don't have anything negative to say about him.
Dr. Needleman was wonderful and he cares so much for his patients. he was so positive made me fill good about getting the surgery done.
Honestly, It took me a year too see him and go through the whole program, I could not see him until the insurance was approved. So I saw him once, then after the surgery. His Nurse Lynn is really nice, and she is quick with returning your calls.Dr. Needleman is very busy trying too help his overweight patients, so there is not much time for a relationship between you and your doctor. But, when you do get too see him, it was worth the wait. I would suggest Dr. Needleman too all. He explained all the risks and even told me I most likely would not have the scope done, I would have to have the big incision. He express's aftercare alot. I would rate him a 10
