Pacific Bariatric Surgical Medical Group, Inc. Bariatric Center
I've only met him once and he seemed tired. I asked him about possibly having a laporoscopic procedure done and he sort of dismissed the question and said he thought it wasn't the best way to have it done. I wish he would have treated it as a possible alternative for me and tell me the pros and cons. I have been told prior that I met the criteria for the laporascopic procedure.
He did seem concerned with my overall health and sat down in a chair right next to me to answer any questions I had.
His nurse was very nice and helpful. There is a structured aftercare program. He did not address the risks of surgery personally but the risks are discussed in the literature that I was given.
I was so nervous and Dr. Rumsey immediately put me at ease. We connected due to the fact that I am a teacher and his daughter was going into teaching.
He totally won my heart at the 3 month post op visit. After describing that I had eaten some deep fried shrimp and become completely ill ( expecting a stern lecture) he smiled and said that the surgery was doing its job and to be careful of high fatty foods.
His office staff was both kind and profesional. Some have had the surgery. On the pre op meeting several ladies from the San Diego area visited us and " walked" us through the surgery.
Pacific Bariatric not only has you attend a lecture but they also have you read an info packet and take a test. Dr. Rumsey sends a nutritionist in to review this with you while you are in the hospital. Support group attendance is encouraged and newsletters are sent out. The dr. and the psychatrist that you visit review the surgery risks and bebefits. The psychiatrist even asked me my plan of attack for menus, emphasizing that the surgery is a tool .
On a scale of 1-10 I rate him a 10. He is kind, encouaging but most of all he is real and doesn't assume the mask of a hurried physician.. His bedside manner was reassuring and his surgical technique outstanding.
I meet Dr. Rumsey on Monday the 16th he was friendly, caring explained the pros and cons othe surgery. While waiting for my appt. alot of his patients where in the waiting room they all said he is the best took go care of them however 2 ladies there had ther surgery 3 wks ago and both and infections in their incesion but both where losing weight one lady said she lost 46 lbs. in three wks. the other said she lost 26 and even though they were in pain they said they would do it again. I hope to be sucessful. I had to wait for more than 45 minutes to be seen, his statff was alright.
Dr. Zorn is with Pacific Bariatric. He is a great surgeon with an incredible bedside manner. A very nice caring individual. He was very thorough and always good about answering questions. He made arrangments so I could see another surgeon to be released to go home on Monday. I would highly recommend Dr. Zorn to anyone.
Dr. Rumsey seems very caring and forthright. Staff has been very responsive.
Pacific Bariatric has a comprehensive aftercare plan and support groups.
Dr. Rumsey is absolutely amazing! He made me incredibly comfortable at my first consultation with him. He was very patient and gentle. He reminds me of an all american 'Dad'! The staff at Pacific Bariatric was equally as amazing. Ever so patient with my repeated phone calls! Dr. Rumsey's nurse is also outstanding. She has a terrific sense of humor! Dr. Rumsey has a great aftercare program, I was sent home with all sorts of nutritional guides and information. I would definately return to Dr. Rumsey, and I 100% recommend him!! His bedside manner is great, his surgical competence is the BEST and I have to say - my incision looks fabulous! He took a lot of care and attention stitching me up, so there will hardly be any scarring. I can't think of a single negative thing to say about Dr. Rumsey or his staff!
I haven't really spent a lot of time with him in his office. He's been very friendly and informative the times I have been to the office, though. The only thing I can really say, though, is that Pacific Bariatrics is a VERY busy office, and the surgeons are doubly so. So, if you have ANY questions or need help clearing something up, make sure you write out a list BEFORE you go in for your office visit and ask away. He was pretty good about asking every question
I had, and he didn't even seem to be annoyed
that I had so many, especially since EVERYONE
probably asks the same things I was asking.
It's hard getting questions answered AFTER
you've already visited with him.
The Pacific Bariatrics clinic that he is with
has done it's utmost to inform me about the
surgery, life after the surgery, tips on how
to make things easier or go faster, and they
offer a solid monthly support group. The
office staff are very personable, but again,
the office is pretty busy, so when they have
you on the phone or you're talking with them
at the office, make sure you get in
EVERYTHING you need to have answered. Getting
a hold of them later has proven to be quite
difficult.
I FIRST MET DR. rUMSEY AT A SEMINAR IN rIVERSIDE, IT IS ONE OF THE REQUIREMENTS AT PACIFIC BARIATRIC THAT YOU ATTEND ONE BEFORE THEY WILL START THE PROCESS). hE WAS VERY INFORMATIVE AND SEEMED VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND DID STRESS THAT THIS WASN'T A QUICK FIX BUT A TOOL FOR LOOSING WEIGHT. mY NEXT MEETING WAS AFTER I WAS QUALIFIED BY MY INSURENCE (kAISER) hE GAVE ME A PHYSICAL AND THEN DISCUSSED ALL ABOUT THE SURGERY AND THE PRO'S AND CON'S AND THE POSSIBLE COMPLICATIONS THAT COULD ARISE. hE ASKED TO SPEAK TO MY HUSBAND AFTER I TOLD HIM THAT MY HUSBAND REALLY WASN'T HAPPY ABOUT MY HAVING IT. hE EXPLAINED TO HIM ALL THE REASOND WHY I REALLY WAS AT MORE RISK IF I DIDN'T GET THE WEIGHT OFF. MY HUSBAND FELT BETTER AFTER THAT AND I AM VERY GRATEFUL BECAUSE HE WAS MAKING THINGS HARDER ON ME BEFORE. i HAVE FULL CONFIDENCE IN DR. RUMSEY . HE STRESSES AFTERCARE VERY MUCH. tHE OFFICE STAFF HAVE BEEN VERY HELPFUL AND i APPRECIATE THEM VERY MUCH. i THINK THE DRS. AT PACIFIC BARIATRIC ARE ALL VERY COMPETENT, THEY HAVE A VERY GOOD TRACK RECORD FOR SUCESS.
