Norfolk Surgical Group Bariatric Center
Dr. Fontana is wonderful. He was very informative and kind. He was also professional. He gave info thoroughly and answered all questions. He made me feel comfortable and confident that all would be well. He never made me feel uncomfortable. The staff at Norfolk Surgical Group is the tops. They take great pains to make sure everything is explained. I have spoken to many people that have delt with him and all have the highest praise for him.The program for bariatric surgery is excellent. I truly don't have any negative comments. Except that it took so long to complete the process, but that is needed for preparation. He and the Group get an A+++ from me.
I am impressed with the number of lap RNY procedures he has done. I liked what he had to say at the informational seminar I attended with my husband. I will actually be meeting with Dr. Fontana on Friday the 10th of June and will add more info at that time.
I met with Dr. Fontana and he is awesome! He explained everything to us and made sure we had all our questions answered!
I am very comfortable with their whole program at NSG (Norfolk Surgical Group) -
My husband saw Dr. Boustany for a different issue and we liked him. We had worked with two different bariatric surgeons and one moved and one quit doing the surgery so we had to find a new surgeon. We liked his bedside manor and decided to give him a go.
The office staff is great once you have insurance approval but they don't get involved in the approval process. It was up to us and our PCP to fight a 4-year battle. The policy of Norfolk Surgical Group is that you have to get pre-authorization from your insurance before they want to see you and they tell you this at the information meeting. Once you are approved they have a great staff in their bariatric program.
Dr. Boustany is a stickler for pre-op diet and aftercare. He requires a 30 day liquid semi-startvation diet (that is what he calls it) before surgery along with weekly weigh-ins at his office. He has two different support groups that he encoruages participation in before and after surgery that are run by his nutritionist.
Dr. Boustany was very open and professional about addressing the risks.
I haven't had surgery yet but I feel very comfortable with his skill and bedside manor.
Awesome Doctor! Put me at ease at first visit, explaining in depth the procedure and what to expect.
Care while in the hospital was first class. Dr. Fontana checked on me regularly, and did a wonderful job of my surgery. Seven months later, no complications and great results!
I highly recommend Dr. Fontana for anyone that has a chance to go to him.
HE was the best! wahooooooo
He makes sure testing and everything is up to par and that you will receive the best of everything
That is a whole great story they are the best.
nothing
He is very thorough and checks everything - no room for mistakes...
thats good, the staff has a monthly meeting and follow up care
yes
was thorough
hes a good doctor, he cares about your feelings and emotions you are going through,
wont know until i have surgery in Nov.
DR. BOUSTANY IS WONDERFUL!!!! I LOVE GOING TO HIS OFFICE EVERYBODY THERE SEEMS VERY HAPPY. I HAVEN'T FOUND ANYTHING ABOUT HIM OR HIS STAFF THAT I DON'T LIKE. DR. BOUSTANY IS VERY CLEAR ABOUT HIS RULES, HE SEEMS TO BE A LITTLE MORE STRICK THAN OTHERS. BUT IT'S ALL GOOD. HE HAS GREAT BEDSIDE MANNERS, AND HE ANSWERES ALL MY QUESTIONS. I SAW HIM 3 DAYS AFTER SURGERY, THEN 2 WEEKS THEN 3 MONTHS, AND NOW I WON'T SEE HIM FOR 6 MONTHS. SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD PLAN TO ME. HE MADE SURE I UNDERSTOOD ALL THE RISK, INCLUDING DEATH, AND HE MADE ME AWHILE OF ALL THE RISK OF STAYING 300 PLUS LBS. AS FOR WHAT IS BETTER, SURGICAL COMPETENCE, OR BEDSIDE MANNERS, I'D SAY """""""""""""SURGICAL COMPETENCE!!"""""""
DR. MARC BOUSTANY HAS BOTH!!!! I FEEL VERY BLESSED TO HAVE HIM AS MY WLS DR.
GOD BLESS
SHARON M. MURPHY
in my initial interview he stress many many times that death was a possibility during and after surgery,
with diabetes having no cure, hypertension controlled with medication, sleep apnea an on nasal cpap what is one more death sentence!
staff was friendly attentive and helpful
sometimes the wait to see him can be a bit lengthy even after you're checked in and in the exam room; one visit i took a nap.
be prepared to hear about the side effects and know why you are there,
he expects you to keep appointments and have testing done
yes there is a structured aftercare program.
point blank he discussed all risk
dr snyder was excellent
i believe both are equally important and thank God i had both.
Dr Snyder seems like a nice man. He took the time to answer ALL of my questions and repeated a couple of times that if I have anymore questions to call him. He is young but has performed over one hundred WLS. The office staff was great. DR Snyder's nurse Laura is a very sweet and open person. First impressions: this group will be a god send to work with!

I have not yet met Dr. Snyder, although I did attend a support group meeting at Norfolk Surgical Group where he practices. I am scheduled to attend a WLS class on September 17, and I guess I'll see from there...

Well I FINALLY got to meet Dr. Snyder, and I got a very good first impression. He took his time and explained everything very thoroughly. I am very pleased that he is my surgeon, and can't wait to have the surgery.
I was very impressed with Dr. Hoffman and most of his staff from the moment I walked in. He is very truthful, full of knowledge and a sincere person. There was nothing I did not like about him, he is a very wise doctor. Dr. Hoffman is very big on aftercare, support group attendance and eating right for life. Dr. Hoffman & NSG has a on sight support group every 2nd Tuesday of the month along with a very thorough structure aftercare program. He informed me of all the risk of the surgery along with going over diagrams and answering any questions I had. Overall I would say from just my own stand point; the staff at NSG & he are truely PRICELESS!
