Norfolk Surgical Group Bariatric Center
My second consult was just as good as the first. Dr. Fontana has a very likeable attitude. He explains everything to the point. And when you have questions, its like he all ready knows what you are going to ask and answers it for you. Im so glad I chose him.
I met Dr. Fontana at his seminar on Jan. 24th.rnMy first office visit was with him today, February 9th, 2007. He was very thorough in his explanations of the procedure and what to expect. I felt very comfortable with him and his staff. Lola was really nice and so was the young lady that set up my prodedures at Leigh.rnThey were very responsive to my questions and made me feel very relaxed. rnrnDr. Fontana did my endoscopy procedure and I was even more impressed with him. He had a diet coke in his hand and I didn't even see it until he tried to hide it. lol rnThe only thing that i was concerned about was not having enough sedation cuz i heaved uncontrollably when he passed the tubing. Dr. Hornbuckle told me not to worry he would make sure I was good and sedated at the ultrasound.rnrnDr. Fontana performed my lapband procedure. He was very reassuring and caring to me. He wants his patients to succeed and he encourages us to follow the rules. It's not hard. Use the tool.
Dr. Fontana, is a quiet, young doctor who I believe is an excellent surgeon. His credentials, experience, and kindness are all reasons I ultimately chose him as my surgeon. rnrnDuring my hospital stay Dr. Fontana visited once daily and monitored my progress with a great deal of attention even coming by the hospital on Saturday evening to remove my drain so that I could go home! (Thanks Dr. Fontana.)rnrnThe Norfolk Surgical Group program/process is very comprehensive (before and after care programs) and at times the before requirements can be very frustrating. It is important to stick with it; the end results are very rewarding!
I had my RYN surgery from NSG-DR BoustanyrnMay 22, 2007 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. The surgey went great with no problems. The staff has been going there training classes, so they understand more and more what the surgery and process is. The staff was great the whole time I was there always giving positive words. They do encourage you to walk as much as possible, which is in your best interest. I also saw two other docs from NSG and they where very friendly , caring and always had time for me to ask questions. Jeanne at norfolk General Hospital is great, very caring, friendly, and genuinely concerned about your welfare. I only have postive things to say about them. rnThe office staff at NSG- Dr Boustany nurse Shan I believe is her name, She has always been pleasant and on time with me. The rest of the staff the same, always pleasant and returned my calls in a timely manner when I have called them. I have and will contuine to refer people to the practice/ Boustany. rn
Dr. Fontana was very impressive from the moment I met him at a Lap-Band seminar. He was very thorough and I was glad to hear that he had been performing the surgery for over ten years. Each time I go to his office, he's very pleasant and doesn't \"rush\" me like some dr's have the tendency to do. He answers any questions I may have and I'm very confident about having him as my surgeon.
I met Dr. Fontana at a WLS information session and was impressed with his manner. I also found out some of the doctors I work for know him as well and that made me feel comfortable too. rn The office staff has been great and seems very organized so far, but I'm only in the beginning stages. The program at Norfolk Surgical Group is very structured and the aftercare program sounds great too. I even have a BIG notebook with information for the WLS process.
My first impression of Dr Fontana was that he was very professional, confident, capable, and caring to my needs and desires. Though he didnt fill my head with false hopes, he did seem very sure that WLS was a positive means of a healthier lifestyle for myself. He fully explained his experience, the risks and benefits, the full procedure, all the pre-op requirements (which were a great many - for his surgical group, compared to most), all the post op requirements, and his requirements and goals for aftercare. I feel very confident putting my health and life in his care. Not to mention he is SO easy on the eyes!!! LOL I personally have a friend who is an OR nurse and who actually works with my entire Surgical Group. She highly recommended all the doctors from Norfolk Surgical Group, but specifally suggested I see Dr Fontana, she stated he has a great bedside manner and surgical practices in place that put him second to none!!rnrnI will update this again, after my operation~~rn
I have nothing but good things to saw about Dr. Boustany, Dr. Snyder and the Staff at Norfolk Surgical Group. Especially their Bariatric Co-ordinator Jennette.rnrnJennette has had the surgery herself and as someone who has been through it as well as an RN. She is more than qualified and more than willing to help in any way she can.rnrnAs for the surgeons... I was sleeping for most of their job thank goodness, but the pre-op and post-op care is excellent.rnrnThe little blurb below says that I should have something negative to say or else people will be suspect of my review. Of course there was and still is pain... it's been only 5 days.rnBut anyone going in for any kind of surgery who doesn't expect that from the beginning is an idiot anyway. As the follow up care progresses, I will keep on the lookout for anything I think could be improved. But honestly, as yet, I have nothing.rn
I really like Dr. Fontana. I was very comfortable talking with him. He is very thorough in making sure you are healthy before he does the surgery.
I first met Dr. Boustany to have my gallbladder removed in January of 2004. He was recommended by a nurse anestitist (sp?) that worked with him at Chesapeake General--I figured she knows all the surgeons and she said gave Dr. Boustany glowing reviews. I became severely infected prior to my surgery and spent 9 days in the hospital, but the surgery was a tough one, according to Dr. B., but I couldn't say enough good things about him. His bedside manner is outstanding and he treats you as more than just a number.rnrnSo, when it came time for my RNY, my choice was already made. Jeanette and Jeanne in the Bariatric Surgery program at Norfolk Surgical Group are fantastic. They both have had the surgery and have loads of information and they \"know where you're coming from\". I had some problems after surgery, including being hospitalized for dehydration about 2 months out. Dr. B. and Norfolk Surgical were incredibly responsive. I called in on Monday morning and they had me a room in Chesapeake General within an hour. I live more than an hour away from the hospital, so their prompt repsonse was appreciated. I can't say enough good things about Dr. B.'s secretary--she was a delight to work with, before and after my surgery. I spent a couple of days in the hospital and Dr. B. refused to let me go home unless I was able to eat something solid and keep it down. After some mashed potatoes and yogurt, he released me after three days of rehydration.rnrnSince then, I've had my good days and my not so good days, but I know that Dr. B. and the staff of Norfolk Surgical are only a phone call away. The only negative thing about the program is the absence of a local support group, and that's not really their fault. I can go to the meetings, but it's tough to make that drive on a weeknight.rnrnI love Dr. Boustany and the group of Norfolk Surgical Group and would highly recommend them to anyone searching for WLS.
