Mount Sinai Weight Loss Surgery Program Bariatric Center

Dr Inabnet was the best surgeon I interviewed. I had interviewed 3 ....and rejected them. I am very picky about who I will trust with my life ...and with good reason.
His office staff when he was at Mt. Sinai was very hectic...but efficient.
He was very honest and untheatened by my blunt questioning...( How many patients have died whom you have operated on...are you board certified...... where did you study.....and so on and so forth)
He addressed the risks of surgery with me carefully and honestly. He also addressed te risks of remaining morbidly obese.
I will be seeing him at New York Presbetyrian next month. I will be going with my husband, who also met him last year at my last yearly visit, and he was quite impressed with him.
Dr Inabnet will I am sure, address my needs thoroughly. He always addresses my needs medically, psychologically and nutritionally. He will I am sure do so now more than ever now that I am expecting at the end of October.

I absolutely LOVE Dr. Herron!! My first impression of him was that he was very nice and approachable, and it has not changed! He never makes you feel rushed or that all your questions are something he's answered a million times before. He is very patient and thorough with all his answers. I have been researching this surgery for 2 years and I have been very nervous of possible complications, but now, I am so confident with Dr. Herron I am looking forward to my surgery and leaving my care in his hands completely!! There is nothing negative I can say about Dr. Herron. Office staff is always pleasant but usually very hectic and burdened.

2/18/04 - I finally met with Doctor Daniel Herron today. He was wonderful. He didn't rush me and he answered all my questions even before I asked them. He described in detail the 2 types of surgery I'm interested in and told me it's totally my choice. He was very professional yet he was very funny and cute! If I had any doubts about my surgeon before today I do not any longer. Thank you Doctor Herron! Also his staff is very helpful and courteous. I'm sorry I don't know all their names but I will in time. Thank you ladies!

To date I have met with Dr. Herron two times. Each time I was very comfortable with him and pleased with is assessment of the entire situation. Things are at a standstill for me now because Dr. Herron was just appointed the head of Bariatric Surgery at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City and therefore, the transition of records and everything is going to be time consuming. But I know it will be worth the wait.

6/10/04 - Once again met with Dr. Herron, this time at his new office in New York City. He is now doing his surgery out of Mt. Sinai Hospital in NYC as he is the head of bariatric surgery there. He is still unpacking but yet he sat with me and made me once again feel comfortable. He answered all my questions and then introduced me to Marcel his assistant who is in charge of my paperwork. I spoke to Daryl his precertification guy who was wonderful. I got my authorization letter in the mail from my insurance company in less than 2 weeks. All in all things are going smoothly. Now I will meet with him again on 7/21/04 and I'll be on my way to the losing side!

I liked Dr. Inabnet from our 1st meeting. I found him warm and rece[tive to my questions (I had 2 pages of questions). He did not try selling me one particular surgery over another which I liked. He let me know that I was a candidate for all of them and thn went through the pros and cons.

His office staff was very helpful and continues to be both helpful and compassionate - no question too small to get on the phone and answer or stop into the office.

When I was meeting with the different surgeons I was looking for surgical competence. Bedside manner was a plus but I knew in realty that I would only see the surgeon at best 2/3 times during my stay unles I had any complications.

Aftercare is greatly emphasized initially with him but long-term with the nutritionist and his nurse practioner. One of the major reasons I chose to have my surgery doine at Columbia was that I liked both of their nutritionists and felt I could relate well to both of them where in some of the other practices I visitied I found the nutritionists to be ice princesses and knew I wouldn't work with them on a long-term basis.

I am now 4 weeks post surgery and have already attended one support group meeting and am going to hear a hypnotist speak this week in conjunction with the support group. The on-line support group is helpful though I seem to be more of a voyer than a contributer at this time.

Dr. Inabnet is amazing. I found him to be very informative, friendly and interested in me, not just the science of the surgery. We discussed the pros and cons of the surgery in full detail and he answered any and all of my questions. He's a genuine person, something you don't often find in doctors I have to say. I just can't say enough good things about him. I really feel that I am in good hands. Rodilyn in his office is great too. She's so understandign and willing to listen to whatever you have to say and help with the scheduling of everything you need. I know I picked the right surgeon.

Dr. Herron was the fourth surgeon that i saw; I was instantly comfortable with him and knew that my surgeon search was over. Thorough, patient, informative, caring, relaxed, friendly and very approachable are some of the ways i'd describe Dr. Herron. His office staff is friendly and efficient, quickly responsive to my phone calls and emails. I never had to wait more than 20 minutes to see him at a scheduled appointment and they fit me in immediately when i had a problem and needed to see him a few days before surgery. He always took whatever time I needed and I never felt rushed. For me, Dr. Herron is the perfect combination of a great surgeon and compaaionate caregiver.

I was very impressed with Dr Herron. He explained both procedures to me with pros and cons. I felt very confident when I left. I don't feel that some of the staff is to attentive when you call. They kinda don't want to be bothered by your questions. Hopefully it will be different after surgery.

My first impression of Dr Herron ( as we have only met once for my initial evaluation) was that he was very sincere, compassionate and well educated. My impression has not changed of him. The office staff there has been nothing but helpful and accomodating to me. Dr Herron took a long time describing the risks of the lap band surgery and lap rny, I have decided to go with the latter as a result of my meeting with him. I would rate him as great so far, I will come back after the surgery and update.I think that surgical competance and bedside manner are both critical for the patient to have a successful, pleasant, calm experience.

My first impression of Dr. Herron was very that he is a very caring and understanding doctor. I am a very pleased that I had him to do the surgery. I felt as Dr. Herron was there all the steps of the way from walking into his office that day for a consultation to the day I said Yes to this operation. His office and staff was very helpfull and understanding the needs of the patients. The least I liked about Dr. Herron is nothing. Very understanding man, explains everything, cares about the patient. Future patients should know that if you don't get the surgery fron Dr. Herron, you are just wasting your years to come, in becoming a healthier person.The aftercare, Dr Herron told me after surgery that if I needed anything don't be shy to call, even if it is the littliest thing.The risk of surgery was explained to me so many times at each and every visit. But, my feelings on that is that I can die without the surgery. I would rate him overall 100%. He is not like other doctors, he is a miracle doctor. I feel that both surgical competence and bedside manner was over and beyond the call of duty for him.I just wanted to let others know that this is my own personal experience and that I am not making no statements about what other people may experience.
