Mount Sinai Weight Loss Surgery Program Bariatric Center
Dr. Kini was really nice and informative, I feel comfortable having him as my surgeon.
Dr. Kini is the best!!!!!!!!!!!!! He was very informative and his staff was very dedicated and full of love. I had a couple of bad experiences trying to find a surgeon that would treat me with respect and someone who would look at me like a person not as an outcast or someone different because of your weight. Let's see what happends after I get a surgery date if I get one due to my insurance but by all means Dr. Kini and his staff rocks.
At first, I was interested in the Lap Band. After attending a seminar, and a consultation with a surgeon who performed both LB and RNY, I started all my pre-op testing. I had been attending support groups once a month on Long Island. After meeting people and listening to their stories, I decided to research the RNY Gastric Bypass. Someone told me about Obesityhelp.com and I spend hour upon hour researching. I began to notice the posts of the people who had the DS procedure seemed more pleased with their situations than the others. The testimonials intrigued me enough to contact Dr. Herron, a surgeon in NYC who performs the BPD/DS. I emailed Dr. Herron and he immediately responded by email. I set up an appointment for next week. (In the meantime, I am on an Optifast Light Diet with the dietician from the first surgeon's office. I hope I can "switch" seamlessly to DS.) LOL
Dr Daniel Herron,
I have met with him twice, and he seemed very personable both times, very informative and anwsered all my questions before I got to ask him. I was very impressed. He took time to outline all the benifits and risks involved with each of the different types of surgerys and the pre and post care involved with each. I found the desk staff to be unhelpfull on the phone, they seemed to not want to anwser my questions, and kept putting me off.. however when I was in the office they were very helpfull.. go figure. anyway bottom line. I would definatly recomend him to anyone looking into this surgery.
I have used email to ask and questions about the surgery with Dr. Herron and he is fantastic and fast about anwsering all my questions, even the silly ones.. Thanks!
Dr Herron is an great surgeon, he was very patience with me. Mr Marcel was great an a big help for me with my questions. If I had to do it again I would choose Dr Herron. he was very honest and told of my pros and cons were regarding the Lap Band.
Dr.Kini and his staff were all very professional, caring and courteous. I saw the difference in the treatment that I was given when I went to other physicians as an obese person, but Dr.Kini and his staff made me feel special I actually felt like I was a normal human being and not just an "obese" person. He has both surgical competence and great bedside manners. He shows that he really cares before, during and after the surgery.
When I initially met Dr Kini, I thought he was softspoken, kind, compassionate and extremely knowledgeable. His office staff were all very nice and I got the feeling with each that I met, that they truly care about me. I felt valuable and special to them. The hospital, Mt Sinai is located in NYC, which is a drive for me (about an hour away, so I am not able to attend all the support meetings), and its a big one, but despite that, the division of Bariatric Surgery seems to be just what you would expect, alot of hustle and bustle, but kind and caring, helpful staff. I met with Jennifer Nalle the NP and Amy the Nutritionist, and both stressed the need to adhere to the program, and the aftercare. All three, my surgeon, Jennifer and Amy have been very open about risks of this surgery. We all agree that the risks of the surgery can be made lower if I loose some weight before having the surgery, and I am going to do a two stage surgery to make the risk even lower (sleeve gastrectomy followed by Roux eny if needed). I rate Dr. Kini and the staff I have met so far a 10 out of possible 10. His sucess rate, competence, knowledge, confidence all contributed to me choosing him to do the surgery. I am very glad to be a part of the program at Mt. Sinai and being a patient of Dr. Kini.
Words can not describe, what Dr. Herron has done for me.
He is a wonderful human being. A great Doctor. He represents in total, the word Physician, Doctor, Medical healer.
Anyone that is going thru a gastric by pass would be greatly lucky to have this Doctor attend you. He is efficient, and warm, and thougthful and pleasant. He listens and is compationate. He attends to all your questions and doubts.
My experience was a good one I was lucky. The only bad aspect was that I didn't dump.(that was the reason I opt for the GBP instead of the Pancreatic duod procedure) Which Dr. Herron did inform me I would do better at) but I insisted on the GBP.
(you were right Dr. Herron)
It was an honor to be Dr. Herron's patient.
and I thank you very much.
Greatful in PA NR
