I had VSG by Dr. Wilhelmy on 8/5/15. It was a very good experience. All the doctors are very pleasant and there if you need them. The hospital is extremely clean and spacious. I was comfortable with my surroundings as well as my travel partner. The hospital cafeteria is awesome! I also had a chance to view the operating room and procedures before I had the surgery. I was happy with their techniques which was important to me since I am a nurse. The whole process was very easy. I would recommend this facility and surgeons to anyone.
The only downfall was the language barrier to express my needs. But when Carla or Yolande are their it is no problem.

I won't repeat all the eloquent descriptions of how wonderful the Mexicali Bariatric Center team is, or how wonderful Almater Hospital is. Suffice it to say, it's all true.
I can sum up my experience in one comment: Everyone was so wonderful and the experience was so unbelievably top notch that I teared up when it was time to leave.

Mexicali Bariatric Center provided the best hospital experience!!

A relative referred me to MBC after she had a successful Gastric Sleeve procedure. Everyone was so pleasant and helpful. The facility was very clean and the room was nice. It is obvious that they are invested and believe in patient care. The whole process was extremely well organized and everything was explained clearly. I didn't have to worry about a thing.

I was very impressed by how often I saw the Drs. and how available the staff was. When I requested medications I received them within 5-10 minutes (When my husband had gall bladder surgery in Gilbert, AZ it took at least 30 minutes to get meds he requested, and we almost never saw a Dr.).

It was nice to hear the Drs. share about their own surgery experiences, and to hear their encouragement about how successful my results will be. Dr. Wilhelmy was so warm and approachable, and the staff was supportive and encouraging. The environment overall was very positive. I would definitely recommend MBC to anyone.

I gotta be honest here i was scared to death to have surgery and then to have it in MEXICO after hearing horror stories of Mexico in general but i was referred by a good friend she had the lap band there i had the sleeve she said "trust me there wonderful doctors your not gonna regret it" and i now can honestly say i have no regrets at all Dr. Wilhelmy Dr. Campos Dr.Beltran were beyond Amazing as was Nina ,Yolanda,Carla it took me a year of lots of saving and lots of thought and research to finally say i gotta do this for ME...you see i Had diabetes and sleep apnea ya i was dying a slow death at least i felt that way i couldn't believe how attentive the doctors were i seen all 3 two times a day that doesn't happen in the states and the nurses were so nice and the cleanliness of the hospital was impeccable i am now 11 days sleeved i feel great and have yet had to take my diabetes medication my advice to anyone wanting to have weight loss surgery do your homework its along journey but if you want the best doctors with lots experience in Bariatric go see DR. Wilhely ,Dr. Campos, Dr.Beltran ,Nina will help you pave the way thank you to all of them i have begun my new life .

It has been a little over a month since I had my Vertical Sleeve done by Dr. Wilhelmy and I just cannot express how happy I am to have both made the choice to have the surgery and to have chosen Dr. Wilhelmy as my surgeon. His staff and the hospital is top notch and I am looking forward to enjoying my new life as a healthier and thinner person! Thank you again!

On the morning of April 30, 2015 Dr. Ungson did a revision to my gastric sleeve and also performed a DS. (This surgery was 2 1/2 years to the day after my first surgery, which was performed in Dallas.) What a difference!

I felt like Dr. Ungson, as well as the other doctors--Campos and Beltram--truly listened to me. During the initial fluoroscope they identified a problem with my first sleeve and they were upfront about the ramifications as well as how they would be able to correct it. They also addressed a concern I had regarding my prior surgery when I experienced excruciating pain in my left side about a week to 10 days after surgery.

On the morning of surgery everything proceeded like a well-oiled machine. Everyone was courteous, introduced themselves, explained what they were going to do and why. My inability to speak Spanish was never a problem.

When I awoke I was repeatedly assured that all was well. I was monitored constantly and the pain I had (quite moderate) was well-managed. Sweet Karla, the patient coordinator, called and spoke to my husband (I traveled to Mexicali by myself) to let him know that everything was fine.

I truly cannot say enough good things about the attentiveness and the professionalism of the doctors. They were patient, and kind, and never once acted rushed or distracted. Dr. Ungson told me that he had searched for adhesions which could have been the source of my prior pain, but had not found any. This leads me to the drain that he inserted during surgery. I believe that it was hugely beneficial to my recovery and likely the reason I haven't experienced pain even remotely close to my prior surgery. (And just as Dr. Beltram promised, it didn't hurt a bit when he took it out.)

And speaking of traveling alone...I'm really glad I did. Had my husband traveled with me, he would have helped me far too much. It was good that I had to get out of bed to retrieve something from my suitcase or plug in my laptop.

My care at Almater Hospital was exemplary. The hospital was spotless and well-staffed. I never once felt that my care was anything less than superb.

In retrospect, I feel a bit silly about having worried about going to Mexico for surgery and if the truth be know, I wish I would have had WLS surgery there the first time. I'm guessing that if I had, I would not have had to have a revision.

I had a Gastric Sleeve by Dr Wilhelmy in April 2015. Everything is going just as they told me it would. Almater Bariatric Hospital is nice, super clean and I can't say enough good things about the Drs and staff. U.S. Hospitals should run as well. The Hotel we stay at the first night is fantastic. Don't be afraid to go there. It is really a great experience. EVERYTHING is so well run it's difficult to believe, after the experiences we have at the Hospitals in the U.S. They could certainly learn a lot from Almater Hospital.

Drs. Ungston, Campos and Beltran performed my re-sleeve and they all were so pleasant, genuine and caring. I truly felt I couldn't of had any better care. Seeing Drs. 3 times a day, I felt like I was a queen. They made sure absolutely every need or concern was handled. I think they are amazing and wouldn't recommend them to absolutely everyone!

I also seen Dr. Campos in 2011 and felt the same, he performed my barium swallows and was so wonderful.
