My first impression of Dr Aceves was that he is very professional and caring. I was correct. I cannot say enough about him or his staff. Any one thinking of WLS should really consider him you will not get treated any better anywhere else. The doctors where great the nurses where great the hospital yes hospital not a clinic was the cleanest I have ever seen.I have nothing negative to say about my surgery in Mexicali and would recommend it highly.
A gentle, soft-spoken man who is passionate about laproscopic surgery. His history of no leaks and few infections had me sold. I was well taken care of in Mexicali, staying 3 nights in the hospital there with full staff and seeing either Dr. Aceves or Dr. Campos up to 3 times/day. The aftercare instructions were adequate but could have used some additonal specific information on supplements, gall bladder meds, etc. I have no problem recommending this doctor.
Going to Mexico for WLS was to say the least a little scary. The reason I choose to do this was because I was going to be in the area for three months and I could get it done fast. When I first met Dr Aceves it was the day of surgery. He went through everything about the surgery and gave ample time for questions I never felt rushed. The folks that worked for Dr Aceves, Nina, Yolanda, Karen Dr Campos to name a few were extremely kind, professional and always there for any questions. The hospital itself was unexpected. It was so clean and well maintained. Very modern and each patient had their own room with shower and toilet. I also was impressed with the fact that I saw Dr Aceves 4-5 times a day. He always checked in to see if everything was going well. The only negative thing I had to say was that the nurses (not all but some) did not inform patients of things they could do or not. I was told I could have a shower and take my leg coverings off the day after surgery several other gals were not told anything at all. I think this could be because some of the nurses didn't speak English. All in all I would return to Mexico for surgery.
Dr. Aceves and his team made me feel very welcomed and treated me like a person. My experience was great. My husband and I arrived in San Diego on November 8, 2009. We spend a night in San Diego and stayed at a hotel that Nina, (Dr. Aceves's patient coordiantor) recommended. We were able to receive the coorperate rate. The following day Ernesto (Dr. Aceves's driver) picked us up at the hotel. Ernesto was great! He shared his own experience with us regarding his VSG. He showed us his before pictures. He was doing great. This was very reassuring. We arrived at the hospital and test were completed. I had a urine test, chest xray, blood work and an ECG. All of my tests were normal. I met with Dr. Aceves thereafter. He explained what would be happening tomorrow (day of surgery). He told me to enjoy myself and have my last supper. Ernesto took us to our hotel and I must say it was beautiful. He would be back to pick us up at 7am. I enjoyed my last meal. rnrnThe following morning we were shown to our room at the hospital. It was a large clean room with a comfy sofa for my husband. Dr. Aceves and his team met with myself, my husband, and two other patients to discuss our upcoming procedures. He provided us with information about the surgery and the aftercare. He also strongly stressed to us that our lifestyles would need to change. rnrnMy surgery lasted 2hours. They informed my husband by telephone right away that all went well. Dr. Aceves did inform us earlier that if he found any other problems during surgery he would repair. I had a ulcer that was repaired. rnrnI remained in the hosital for three nights. I had constant care from nurses and from Dr. Kampos and Dr. Aceves. I was so impressed with the care that I received that I would recommended Dr. Aceves to anyone. I would rate him as \"10\" on a scale of 1 to 10. He is the best!
Dr. Aceves is such a wonderful man. He made this the best experience possible for me. He has such an upbeat personality and so caring! I would suggest him to any and everyone!! The office staff was absolutely amazing as well. They were all so nice and concerned with my well being and my comfort. Dr. Aceves was in to check on me everyday that I was there. He was so thorough on his explanation of everything and made sure I had no questions at all.
I was A LOT apprehensive about having surgey in any other country than the US.
BUT...Dr Aceves and his staff changed ALL that!
From the first point of contact to the time that you leave Mexico, I felt that my questions, concerns and fears were answered and allayed.
The efficiency of the staff is GREAT! I cannot begin to say enough thanks and praise to EVERYONE who took care of me!!! THANKS, THANKS, THANKS!
Dr Aceves is really the best, he's warm, comforting, he made sure that I was comfortable and he's funny! I LOVE HIM! Dr Campos, made me feel at ease having done the surgery too! Yolanda, is Ms. Efficiency, scouting you from one lab test to another.
The hospital was very clean!
I really have nothing negative to say about my experience with Dr Aceves and his staff. It was really a very positive experience!
I have nothing but good words to say about Dr. Aceves and also Dr. Campos. They were very caring and professional. We were late arriving from the airport and they managed the check in for three patients and managed to answer all questions ahead of time.rn The office and the staff were very easy to work with. I speak a little Spanish and they were happy to let me practice and understood when I wasn't able to get my thoughts through. rn I went to Mexico primarily because I am a self pay and I could afford to have the procedure done there. However, I will say that I realized after doing the research that the Mexican doctors had a great deal of experience with WLS and have done this particular procedure with great success for several years.rn I felt completely at ease with the staff and one of the things that I felt good about was the fact that I had a 3 night stay in the hosptial afterward. I hear quite a few patients in the US find that they are rushed out of the hospital with the drains still in. I was already on the mend by the time I flew back home and felt confident that I would be fine and could call either doctor or their staff if I had questions. I will be checking with my own PCP at the three month period for follow up. rn I would recommend this wonderful group without hesitation to anyone considering the procedure. I am so glad that I had it done.
Very personable - He did his research on me and was aware of my needs before I arrived in Mexico. (P.S. NO Language Barriers ) rnMy respect for him has increased as a caring Doctor who cares about the success and growth of his patients. rnOffice staff - very professional more so than any american hospital I have visted in my area. ( they wore Suits not scrubs!)They made me feel like I was the only one they had to take care of and that anything was possible. The thing I like least is that such a great Dr is so far away and even though it is simple to travel to see him I wish he would come state side for seminars or check ups for patients in my area even just once a year. rnAfter care - was very clear - that was just as important as the surgery - he is after success and not money first. I have a great online and phone connection to my Dr's Staff.rnSurgery Risk were made clear at every entraction. rn5 Stars Overall Rating - Service First - rnrnSugerical Competence and Bedside Manner - A good surgeon is neccessary to complete a successful operation - A Great Dr who can communicate with his patients about their needs is a must - here I got both!
