Dr. Inman has been great. Her office staff have always been extremely helpful. She explained the risks of surgery very well. Her surgical competence and bedside manner are both great.

I have only met with my surgeon for the initial screening. She was very patient but thorough in her explanations and welcomed questions. Her office staff have been helpful but have seemed terribly busy. I do not have negative comments due to only having met her on one occasion. My surgeon stressed that the most important component of success was committment and follow up with aftercare with her and the support system. There are organized support groups offered through the Bariatric Services. I am scheduled for my education sessions next Tuesday so I will be better able to tell you more about them later. I asked many questions about commmon after effects and risks and Dr. Inman was very open with her explanations and answers. I feel comfortable with her standing as a trauma surgeon and feel she is qualified to handle any situation which could arise.

I saw Dr. Inman - St. Vincent's, Carmel - Carmel, IN on May 10, 2000. I found her very professional. I liked the way she took a group of potential patients into a room and explained the who, what, where, when, and whys of the surgery. I felt very confident in my choice of surgeons. Her staff was very kind. The only one thing I found disconcerning is that my predetermination letter has not been sent to my insurnace company as of 6/7/00. I just know it will be sent soon.

I went for my first consultation in August of 1999. My first impression of Dr. Inman, was that she was extremely professional and believed very strongly in the profession that she chose for herself. She appeared to be genuinely thrilled with her patients progress. She allowed me the time to ask all the questions I had. I did not feel rushed and was very impressed with her and her credentials. My surgery is May 3, 2000 and I feel like I am in good hands. During my pre-op testing an X-ray showed a mass in my chest and she ordered a ct scan. The ct scan also showed a mass. Dr. Inman referred me to a wonderful doctor. He and several other doctors thought it was lymphoma. I did not fully understand what it meant and during a call to her office she got on the phone with me and answered every question I had very openly and honestly. She made me feel like even if the worst outcome happened that I probably had caught it in time and everything would work out fine. Luckily it turned out to be a non-cancerous cyst, but it really meant a lot to me just knowing she cared enough to be there when I really needed her. That's rare. I will write more after I have had my surgery on May 3, 2000.

HER STAFF HAS BEEN VERY KIND TO ME. I DO FEEL I HAVE SO VERY MUCH LEFT TO LEARN ABOUT WHAT IS GOING ON. I FIRST HAD A SURGEON IN CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA THAT WAS GOING TO DO THE SURGERY BUT I TOOK A JOB IN INDIANA. IF YOU ARE IN VIRGINIA GO TO DR BRUCE SHRIMER HE IS WONDERFUL. DR INMAN DOESN'T HAVE AS MUCH ONE ON ONE WITH HER PATIENTS AS HE DID BUT I'M GETTING USED TO IT.

I have only seen Dr. Inman once. My first impression was that she is very confident with what she does.In her orientation she explained things extremely well and handled all the questions with confidence.

Dr. Inman seems to be knowledgable and ready to take on questions and concerns from the get-go. She also seemed to me a fair salesman for the bariatric proceedure. She was able to give plenty of reasons why one should consider such.

My first impression of the general office staff was very fair and pleasant. The individual working with the insurance company was very helpful and patient in refaxing info as needed. In my experience getting closer to surgery though, others were not as helpful. Staff seemed overworked, i.e. I was put on hold a number of times for long periods, given conflicting information on with whom I could schedule my physical, one with an option of April or may and another with only a two week wait! The surgery scheduler seemed did not seem very happy that I'd been given a date so soon.

After waiting over a month for the insurance approval, I was very disappointed to know that surgery was being scheduled four to five months away. :-( I wish there were other options for a faster turn around time for the surgery date.

I have now had surgery with Dr. Inman as my surgeon. She choose to squeeze me in before my husband's company merges and we possibly loose our insurance through Aetna. I am so grateful to her for that! As for surgeon skills, I have to judge by my not so long scar and the fact that I am relatively pain free. As far as the one time I saw her just before the surgery and the one time I saw her post op, I got no bedside manner, no hello to my husband, and worst of all, no "do you have any questions or concerns?"! I was waiting for at least one time for her to ask questions or at leat explain anything that might be about to happen, but nada. Being a minority I was especially wondering if there were any racial issues, I am african american and my husband is asian. None manifest strongly at all, just Dr. Inman being very distant and quick with me.

The nursing staff, by comparision, were very informative and kind. Both ICU and floor nurses were attentive, and concerned. They treat my husband with courtesy and respect, and baby son with a shower of adoration. He's just too cute! :-) A nurse (joni) and I watched at St. Vincent Bariatric commercial together with the three surgeons. The nurses to me held up the greater end of "care."

With my surgeon, Dr. Inman it was "just a business transaction, just doing a job" was my impression. I did meet Dr. Jones and Dr. Huse. The latter (on rotation the weekend I went home) was very concerned and had the most to say about things to watch out for when at home post op.

They are great! I loved the staff at Dr. Inman's office. Everyone was friendly, but they also were very honest.

Aftercare is a major part of the program, and the staff really emphasize the aftercare program.

I liked Dr. Inman's no-nonsense, sure-of-herself demeanor. I will definitely feel safe in her hands, especially since she is an emergency surgeon!

It does feel a bit impersonal on the first visit, though, I must admit. But that is because Dr. Inman is just trying to gather information about you, so that she can best plead your case with your insurance company. I have talked with several of her post-op patients, and they all think she is just wonderful. They all say she has excellent bedside manner! That is VERY important to me...

The staff has been quite friendly and helpful. Although, I really haven't had much interaction with them up to this point. I'll have to let you know later!

Aftercare is VERY important at St. Vincent Bariatric center. And, so is pre-op testing. They really do all they can to help you succeed!

I have just now gained insurance approval, but I'll come back and update my comments after I have something more specific to comment on.

Until then - I'm a happy camper!
