Duke Bariatric Program Bariatric Center
Dr. Sudan is very nice and professional I believe he is committed to the whole process and was patient will all of my questions to a point .. I mean you can tell he is busy and expects you to ask questions at the information class before your first appt..
As far as his office staff I think we are only talking about Krista his PA and Charity who does his nursing and scheduling and faxing and answeres all questions so Charity is the girl and is usally on the ball and responds pretty quick if you make it understood its important
Dr Sudans after care is intense and he is very commited he has his own support group one a month
Dr. Sudan is very knowledgeable about the types of surgeries he performs. He is the kind of doctor who tells you like it is. He doesn't beat around the bush. He requires you to attend an educational seminar before you are able to set up your first consultation with him. He goes thru the procedures he performs and when you go to your first consult, he expects you to have made the choice as to which type of surgery you want--either RNY or DS. I found it easy to make that decision due to the educational seminar I attended. When I asked if I could bring my husband, he said that would be great because we would be going thru it together. I wanted him to go not only for the support but also for the extra set of ears in case I missed something. I also took a notebook along for notes. Charity is also very knowledgeable. She is the one that you have the most contact with. When you call the office, you usually get Charity or her voice mail. Although I was skeptical about leaving a message, I did and she returned my call the same day. It was wonderful. Dr. Sudan expects you to follow certain guidelines after surgery too. He and Charity go thru this in the educational seminar so that you know exactly what to expect. I was and continue to be very pleased with Charity and Dr. Sudan. I look forward to my continued relationship with them.
10/4/2002 I met with Dr. Sudan for the first time today. My first impression of him wasn't fair to him at all. I was sooooo apprehnsive. Not about him, but about everything. After meeting with him for a while I realized what everyone has told me is true. He is a very intelligent, kind doctor. He answered all of my questions honestly, never sugar coating anything. His office is beautiful and equipped for the larger population. Charity is a wonderful nurse she also answered my questions thoroughly.
My doctor, Dr. Sudan was vary understanding and he would leasen to what I had to say, and he has a great nurse her name is Charity. I would recommend him to anyone and everyone. What a great doctor.
There is a long wait to see him for your initial consult. I dont know how long after that it will be until you go to surgery. Well I got lucky and someone cancelled so I got tot see him early. Dr. Sudan is very nice and makes sure you understand what you are doing. He requires you to attend one of his informational seminars before you get the surgery. He has many surgery options available. I chose the lap procedure, he uses a robot called the Da Vinci. The nurse Charity is very helpful and nice too and is a great help with the paperwork stuff and appointments. They were able to schedule me on the exact day I wanted wihch made things alot easier for me.
I have finally met Dr. Sudan. I was just rescheduled for my initial consultation with him. My original consultation was not scheduled until April of 2002. Someone dropped out of the program so I got bumped up for my appointment.
Dr. Sudan makes sure you are fully aware of all risks and options involved in this matter. He is freindly and personable. His nurse, Charity, is also the same.
I have been in for my consultation and Dr. Sudan feels I am a good candidate for WLS. I am waiting for insurance approval now.
I first met Dr. Sudan when I went to his education session that he requires...He was very nice...I met with him again a few days later for my 1st appointment...He answered all my questions and I feel very confident that he is the right surgeon for me...His nurse Charity is great! I called her several times to see if I could get an earlier 1st appoinment...She always took the time to talk to me and I didn't seem to be bothering her...
I like how he requires for all his patients to attend an education session that he teaches about the 2 different surgeries he does, and he talks through it step by step to help you decide which surgery is best for you.
I am so very impressed with Dr. Sudan. He is one in a million. Talk about humble. He is East Indian and speaks fluent english. His wife Deb is also a surgeon at the University of Nebraska Medical Center where he works. She is on the LIED TRANSPLANT TEAM and she also helped him in my surgery. They make a good couple.
I would highly recommend Dr. Sudan for your Weight Loss Surgery. He does mainly the RNY and the BPD/ds. He uses a Robot called Divincy. (after Leonardo)
He emphasizes aftercare very strongly. He has a support group that meets once a month, however I work during that time so I get alot of support from my OSSG membership.
I went to several of his informative meetings where he drew pictures of the types of surgeries he performs and answers a slew of questions. He is frank and openly honest with everyone he talks with. He does not sugar coat this procedure or it's risks nor does he scare you about the possibilities. He makes sure you have been thoroughly informed, aware of it's complications and that you are mentally prepared to undergo such a drastic measure.
I personally feel surgical competence is more important. I'm not a person who depends on bedside manner, however, he has a great one.
I highly recommend him.
