Dr. Frantzides is a very skilled surgeon and has excellent bedside manner. The follow up is superb. The laproscopic technique is amazing. I was back at work in my office in 7 days!! I couldn't believe how quickly I recovered from major surgery. I'm 4 months post-op and feeling amazing -- down 70 pounds with tons of energy. I couldn't be happier with Dr. Frantzides or the outcome of my surgery.

Hi my name is Cathy and I had my surgery 10/8/04. My surgeon was Dr. Frantzides and with his help I am on my way to a new life. My first appointmnet at Dr. Frantzides' office was two months prior to my surgery. I met with the office staff first who were great. They were able to reassure me and answer my many questions. Then I met with Karen Thomas, RN who was fabulous! She is one of the kindest, brightest, and caring nurses I have every met. Her support has been incredible. She truly leads the way to a better life. Dr. Frantzides was last but not least. He explained everything to me and answered all my questions. He was so positive and uplifting that I immediately knew everything would be fine. His expertise got my through both of my procedures without any complications.

My procedure was a Roux-en-Y but complicated by my illness of Idiopathic Thombocytopenia. I needed my spleen removed and Dr. Frantzides assured me that both the gastric bypass and the splenectomy could me done during my laparoscopy procedure. As it turned out, this was the first time that any physician had attempted to do both procedures together. It was a total success. My time in the OR was 5 1/2 hours and my hospitalization was 2 1/2 days. The first 3 weeks were hard but were made harder by the fact that I chose to return to work after only 2 weeks.

Karen Thomas, RN runs the aftercare program and is available at all times. She is unbelievably great and is my angel. I could not do it with out her. I meet with Dr. Frantzides on a regular basis and he continues to be very encouraging and supportive. I have been very fortunate. I had diabetes along with my ITP and both conditions have been resolved due to my surgery. I no longer need my insulin or oral medications and my blood counts are all normal for the first time in ten years.

Every day still has its challenges but I know that I am changing for the better.

I thought he was persice and clear and made me feel very comfortable. I found him to be consistant in what he says and he contunied to make me feel comfortable. The office staff is very friendly. I hate my comute I live a distsnce form his office. They should know that he can help them , that they can trust him, that he will make a way. That the most important thing is his patients. He is very strong on aftercare. He want all of his patients to follow up with their appointments and take care of their health. Support groups a available at severl locations. Dr. Frantzides was very clear ablut all of the risks of surgery with his info and my family's su[pport I was able to make the right choice. I give Dr. Frantzides a score of 110%! He has great bedside and surigical manner. The First doctor I say was going to do the open procedure because of a previous operation and Dr. Frantzides never evan gave the open procedure a thought. This made me feel wonderful.

I was referred to Dr. Fratzides by my gastroenterologist who insists that Dr. Frantzides is absolutely the best surgeon avaolable in Chicago for Laparoscopic Bariatric by pass surgery. As a Patient advocate for surgical patients for over 20 years, I would have to agree. Having a Laparoscopic procedure vs. an open case, means, smaller incisions, less blood loss, less anesthesia, & less general body weakness post op. I'm 3 months post-op, & have had no complictions. I can eat most foods, I've had a steady weaght loss, & I am completely off of blood sugar meds, & hypertendion meds. What more could I ask for? His staff is very supportive & professional. Access to Dr. Frantzides is never a problem. His answers to questions are always prompt & to the point. I am very satisfied.

I think Dr. Frantzides is a very skilled surgeon - but it pretty much stops there.
The real key to the program and Dr. Frantzides is definitely Karen Thomas. She IS the program - without her I would never have been this close to achieving my goals!
Thank you Karen!!!

I already knew Dr. Frantzides because of my daughter having the same surgery in 2002. I was so pleased with her results that I wanted the same surgeon for myself. The office staff are very professional and friendly. People considering Dr. Frantzides should know that he is one of the top, if not the top, in laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery in the area. He is very personable and takes a lot of time with you, taking time to address all the surgical risks. I am not in the area, aftercare is not really stressed, or available to me. He is good in both surgical competence and bedside manner, with me and my family. Besides that he is always impeccably groomed and has "great suits".

My first impression was warm and welcoming from pre-op to post-op my opinion never changed. Dr. Frantzides office staff is amazing. Patients considering Gastric bypass who would like the procedure done the Laproscopic then I would highly recommend Dr. Frantzides of Evanston Northwestern hospital. My bmi was at 65 and most doctors wont touch you laproscopically with a bmi that high but Dr. Frantzides is very skilled in Laproscopic surgery so he did it. I am very please with the results and within 11 days I had already lost 23lbs. Dr. Frantzides rock.

My first impression was that I was in a regular doctors office. I was very suprised. Dr. Frantzides give all of his patient the time they require that sometimes makes him run late. This is a very special feature because most doctors give you 15 minutes and then they are on to the next patient even if they did not answer all of your questions. The office staff is very carring and take their time with you as well. After care in very big with Dr. Frantzides he insist that you keep all of yor appointments as well as attend support group meetings. Dr. Frantzides was very good in addressing all the risks of surgery as well as telling me how much my quality of life would change and it has. My over all rating is a 10!!! I was very happy that I did not have to have the open procedure taht most surgeons do.
