I am a researcher by nature and did a ton of research on both weight loss surgery and the surgeon I'd want to do the procedure. I made a terrific choice when I decided on Dr. Srikanth. My surgery was a breeze and as I've had concerns and questions with the post-surgery life I need to live, he's been willing to take the time and energy to make sure I understand everything and am comfortable. He's got an incredible staff as well. His nurse, Terri, is a post-op patient of his and she's available for anything at any time. As I've become involved in the weight loss surgery community via support group meetings etc., I've heard other patients complain about things that would never happen with Dr. Srikanth's office. I wholeheartedly recommend him for anyone considering surgery. My only caution is that he won't let you get away with breaking rules, so if you're wishy-washy, find another surgeon. Dr. Srikanth wants to make sure his patients succeed so he's very involved in your post-surgery life...

I research the surgeries for about 5 years from Texas into Washington. As a operating room nurse I have worked closely with many surgeons. I totally believed that the biggest problem with other surgeons is their lack of post-operative care and follow-up. I was able to observe Srikanth in surgery for almost two years. The care of his patients go far and above any surgeons I have ever worked with in my career. The one thing that impressed me the most was how he carefully checked each patient before surgery, while they were asleep. He displayed as much love and care for his patients after they were asleep on the OR table as if they were awake and listening. When he tells you it is a lifelong relationship he really means it. When he looks at an obese patient, he does not see the skinny person inside but the healthy one trying to get out. I am still learning so much in my new job but with his guidance I will do my very best to help you look and feel as wonderful as I do. You can always email me if you have any questions at www.centerforweightlosssurgery.com. Please check us out and see the difference. Do I have anything negative to say? Yes, there are a few bugs we have to work out such as time and scheduling but we will spend as much time with you as you need, we are very honest and open, and will answer your questions as best we can.

First impressions: generally liked him, he seemed to know a lot of what obese people have to deal with in their daily lives and wants to help them achieve better living.rnrnIt has been about one month since I first met with him and recently found out he is no longer with SWLC in Tacoma, but is opening his own practice in Federal Way.rnrnI meet with him on Oct 11, 2006.rnrn12/22/06 - Dr Srikanth gave me my first fill since being banded by him on 11/01/06. I have lost 20 pounds since surgery, with another 34 pre-op. I really have enjoyed working with Dr Srikanth on this weight loss journey. The surgery has allowed me to be very successful in losing weight. Dr Srikanth is very agressive in making sure I do succeed and encourages me. He was just as excited as I was about losing the pounds since surgery.rnrnHis staff is very helpful and they like to know and call each patient by their first name. That makes one feel that there is more then the clinical patient/doctor relationship cause they are the cheering squad for your success.rnrnI think Dr Srikanth's post surgery follow up and diet plan is more agressive then most, but I believe that is because he wants the patient to start seeing/feeling the success immediately to keep motivated and encouraged. Dr Srikanth is genuine in his concern for his patients. I just can't say enough good things about him and his staff.rnrnOk, one negative about Dr Srikanth? He and his staff really need to work on revising their handouts so they are more explicit in instructions for diet follow-up and dos and don'ts. Maybe they should get their patients input on these things to make their job easier!!!rn

Very personable, nice smile, friendly. He is very thorough going over all the lab reports to make sure all is good. I feel confident and secure choosing him as my surgeon. rnrnOffice staff is friendly, helpful and great to deal with. Terry the nurse is caring and very helpful. The office has big enough chairs to sit in and not be restricted. They also have a conference room for classes. rnrnI don't believe there is anything I don't like about him. One should know that both Dr Srikanth and his nurse are very busy but have been wonderful about returning calls if there is a problem. You can also email Terry with questions. She is very knowledgable about the surgery. rnrnThere seems to be a lack of coordination between the doctors who perform the various tests, their results and making sure they get to Dr. Srikanth's office.rnrnAftercare is a requirement and doctor will follow you through your journey. I believe he has a structured aftercare program.rnrnThe risks were addressed. He does not sugar coat anything.rnrnI think he is great and has a good bedside manner. His surgical competence is well documented and he has written or help write many research papers.

I first met Dr. Srikanth at a seminar put on by Franciscan Health. I thought he was very funny, very caring and was truly in this to help people. It's not all about the money. The biggest thing though was my husband liked him and had confidence in him after doing some research and meeting him. That is something because my husband is a retired paramedic of 26 years and he doesn't like doctors! The office staff at SWLC has been wonderful to work with so far. Very caring, helpful and ready to provide any assistance or support you may need. My only negative comment might be that I had to sit and wait for 45 minutes, when I had the first appointment of the morning, to see the doctor. But he does his rounds in the morning at the hospital so this is to be expected.

Dr. Srikanth is very nice and very funny. I enjoyed my first visit. My impression of him hasn't changed since I first met him at the seminar. He introduced himself and was very pleasant. His office staff was great. I didn't realize that I forgot to fill out a 10 page questionaire that should have been done on my first visit...ooops. Did get it done in about 10 minutes and they(office staff)were still nice..The after care is emphasized ALOT at the first seminar they emphasized it. The risks of surgery were explained at the seminar and at the first visit. I feel very confident in Dr. Srikanth doing my lap band surgery and would recomend him to anyone.

He seems highly qualified and he will do the duodenal switch with bibliopathic diversion. We have not scheduled a date yet because we're doing tests upfront to insure I qualify.

Staff seems knowledgable, fairly competent and pleasant. They're a very aware group of people.

He does not recommend a BPD/DS. He'd rather do the RNY. He's had 5 years experience doing the DS/BPD which makes me comfortable. I've insisted on a BPD/DS and he's the only one I've found in Western Washington.

He also has a requirement to lose weight prior to surgery. I've had problems here trying to make weight for my operation.

9/27/05 Continue to be in good rapport with him. He really cuts the stomach small and has performed 2 intestinal blockages since my original surgery. I would be careful having any surgery. He nor I could anticipate my healing abilities which caused the problem. I've had continuous problems with hernias. He overdoes it for checking up on your condition. He has a good sense of humor. Just know that if you want a BPD/DS go to him.

HE REMINDED ME OF A BOSS I ONCE HAD...YOU HEAR HIM BEFORE YOU SEE HIM, BUT UNLIKE THIS FORMER BOSS, HE'S MUCH NICER. THE OFFICE STAFF IS WONDERFUL, ESPECIALLY THE NURSE PRACTIONER I HAVE BEEN SEEING FOR ALL OF MY FOLLOW UP VISITS AND MONTHLY WEIGH INS. HER NAME IS ANNE FAILONI. DR SRIKANTH IS VERY NICE, VERY INFORMATIVE AND ANSWERED ALL OF MY QUESTIONS. HE DOES HOWEVER, TALK VERY FAST AND YOU NEED TO LISTEN TO HEAR ALL HE TRIES TO LET YOU KNOW.

THERE IS A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF EMPHASIS ON AFTERCARE...VITAMINS, SUPPLEMENTS AND ESPECIALLY PROTEIN. EATING HEALTHY AND NOT HESITATING TO CALL THE CLINIC IF YOU ARE HAVING ANY PROBLEMS OR COMPLICATIONS.

DR SRIKANTH ADDRESSED ALL OF THE RISKS OF SURGERY...BOTH PRE AND POST OP. I WOULD SUGGEST TO ALL THAT YOU DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH OF THE SURGERY. WORKING IN THE MEDICAL FIELD, I AM ABSOLUTELY AMAZED AT HOW MANY PEOPLE DIDN'T DO ANY REASEARCH OF THEIR OWN, EITHER ONLINE OR TALKING WITH OTHERS THAT HAVE HAD THE SURGERY...THIS IS THE MOST CRUCIAL THING ANYONE CAN DO.

DR SRIKANTH HAD BOTH GOOD BEDSIDE MANNER AND WAS A COMPETENT SURGEON. HOWEVER , I UNDERSTAND I WAS UNDER ANESTHESIA FOR 4 1/2 HOURS INSTEAD OF THE 2 TO 2 1/2 HOURS IT NORMALLY TAKES. APPARENTLY IT WAS DUE TO THE FACT I WAS MUCH SMALLER ON THE INSIDE THAN ON THE OUTSIDE AND THINGS HAD TO BE PUT BACK IN JUST SO.

I have my surgery in 10 days and have only met with Dr. Srikanth once, but I liked him very much. I chose him based on what I read about him through several online sources. He is very experienced and hasn't had any complaints lodged against him that I could find. He was very thorough in explaining the banding procedure and possible complications and answered all of my questions.

I haven't been that happy with the office staff, though. When I call I feel as though I am being rushed and talked down to. When I went to the pre-op appointment at the hospital I wasn't told that I needed to have cashiers checks made out for the hospital and anesthesiologist. Also, I was billed for an appointment that I had already paid for. I was told my pre-op at the hospital would only be an hour and it was closer to 2 hours (this made me late for an appointment with Dr. Srikanth and then I was reprimanded for being late - not my fault - they did the scheduling). I was told 2 weeks before surgery that I needed an extensive test that required sedation and that it was on my original testing orders (the doctor that performs these tests could not get me in within 2 weeks). When I showed them that the test wasn't on my orders, I was told that I should have known that I needed it even though it wasn't on my orders. I feel that there aren't enough people in the office to do all that they are asked to do and the patients are the ones that end up paying for it. I have read all the other reviews that say that the office staff is so great and I personally have just had a very different experience. However, that all being said I would still highly recommend Dr. Srikanth. He is the one operating and that's all I care about. I have had to do the scheduling and organizing, research information and follow up with test results myself.

The after care program is extremely strict but seems very "do-able" and balanced, really emphasizing nutrition. Lab work will be done regularly after surgery and it is reassuring to know that even though appearance is important, the patient's health is what is emphasized by Dr. Srikanth after surgery.

Well, I haven't met him yet but his staff so far has been great. Heather has been a huge help scheduling everything and answering all my questions.
