Center for Obesity Surgery Bariatric Center
1st impression: Very business oriented. Uses his expertise and past success to best promote future business.
Impression change over time?: No.
Office Staff: acceptable.
What did I like least?: The hair dye dude, the hair dye... it's too obvious, but hair dye does not impinge on intelligence.
Future patients should know: If you've already done a lot of research on the subject you shouldn't expect very long discussions at your pre-op appointments.
Aftercare emphasis: Group meetings scheduled weekly at his office, but not mandatory. Aftercare appointments every month 1st year, every 6 months for life.
Risk assessment: Typical of any surgery, really, with a few specifics for the stomach. One of the first things addressed.
Rating: Competent. With everything I've heard from other patients and his past success rate, I trust him to perform my surgery.
Competence vs bedside manner: don't know - will know on Thursday!
So for Dr. Afram has been great and his office staff, especially Mandy have been even greater <--even if that's not a word!!!
The entirety of his program is very structured and supportive. I can't wait to get my surgery date and get underway! Just waiting and fighting for approval! I can't speak for the entire experience yet cause i am still pre op but truely so far my entire experience with dr. afram and his staff has been positive!!
I first thought that he seems kind of quite an low key, but the can be good for a Doctor. He has been doing this for twenty years and performed over 3000 surgeries. I think he has a great stuff and they seem to really care about my you feel comfortable.
My first impression of Dr Afram was a positive one. He impressed me to be very knowledgeable of the process and the details around my surgery. The office staff was excellent and very careing. There was a structured aftercare program available and He engouraged the participation in that program. He wasclear with me on all the possible risks of the surgery and stressed that it was only a tool not a quick fix. I would rate Dr Afram as a overall A++
Dr Afram is highly skilled; I recommend him energetically. However, the followup group meetings with both the nutritionist & psychologist leave much to be desired. After attending several meetings, it just wasn't worth the time; I found the information on this site much more helpful, & am using this for my post-op support.
Dr. Afram was great! He was personable, which is very important to me in chosing a doctor. His staff is top notch. The young lady that deals with insurance knows her stuff. I got approved on the first try.
I LOVE HIM!!! HE IS A GREAT PHYSICIAN. HE HAS AN ASSOCIATE IN THE OFFICE WITH HIM NOW BUT I STILL WANT TO SEE HIM ONLY.
My first impression was that Dr. Afram is a professional who knows his stuff. Every post-op patient I encountered through support groups confirmed that impression. His office staff is highly supportive, dedicated and caring. Mandy goes above and beyond to work battling insurance company red tape. Sally is gentle, kind, and helpful. I am confident that Dr. Afram is as helpful and attentive after surgery as he is before. The nutritionist and psychologists associated with this practice are top notch. They were available to answer my questions and address my concerns 24/7. Overall, my pre-surgery experiences with Dr. Afram have all been very positive. I feel as if I am in very experienced hands. My extensive research led me to conclude that Dr. Afram is the best choice for patients seeking bariatric surgery in the DC area.
Dr. Afram was wonderful before, during, and after the surgery.
I first Met Dr. Afram in a group meeting at his office in Washington DC. He is a softspoken man, very knowledgeable in his field. He has done the Gastric Bypass procedure over 3,000 times. His mortality rate is 0%, this was a major factor for me. The office staff is friendly and welcoming, always willing to help. To the day I have yet to find something bad about this doctor. I am very impressed by his presence and that he is so concerned about aftercare. He kept stressing how vital it is to have follow up visits. The follow up program is very detailed and thorough. During the group consultation meeting Dr. Afram answers almost every possible question you may have before opening up the conversation to questions from the group. He then meets one on one with you and answers any other questions you may have. I believe he is a great choice because he posseses both Surgical competence and bedside manner.
