Atlanta Bariatrics Bariatric Center
When I called and spoke with Dr. Hart's staff Amanda I wasn't able to get a appt. until about a month later, I was a little bummed, but she said that I could get a head start and get my psych eval completed and schedule my first nutritionist appt. This actually worked out for the best because then I was ahead of the game!
However, once I had my first appt. Dr. Hart and Amanda were PHENOMENAL!!!
Because I was ahead of the game I only had to have that visit and the one before surgery (pending approval).
Once I completed the testing Amanda submitted everything and I was half denied, she called and fixed EVERYTHING. She is an angel.
Dr. Hart is so wonderful. He is so sweet and is truly in this profession because "he can see how his work has impacted people's lives". He is very open to questions and very knowledgable. I would recommend him to everyone as he is an amazing man.
These were just my personal impressions of my own personal experience and that I am making no statements about what other people may experience.
Dr. Hart has been wonderful! He is the most patient doctor I've ever seen. He never seems in a hurry when I'm in his office and waits patiently while I think of all the questions I can! The staff has been great. He is starting a support group this week and I'm looking forward to attending. I'm sure I'll get even more educated there. My surgery was uneventful (thankfully) and recovery is going well.
Dr Hart was very informative and seem to be knowlegdeable and comfortable with informing his patients about the surgery. He expects you to follow his criteria for the surgery in order for the patient to come out as a loser.
The office staff is wonderful, very professional as well as very confident regarding putting everything together for approval - when I had no faith they did.
I immediately liked Dr. Hart. He was very informative and spent lots of time examining me and explaining the surgery to me and my husband.
His office staff was very busy, but nice. It took forever to get an appt. just to meet him, though. That is probably what I liked the least, waiting for an appt. by going to a nutritionist for 3 months before I could meet him. That was the most frustrating thing, and I didn't want to alienate the office staff by getting pushy. I think he has excellent training and experience. He definitely emphasizes aftercare. I understand he is hiring a nutritionist to be in his office. He is very straight with the risks/benefits of surgery. I have known people who have had surgery with him, and I am confident of his competence, but the ultimate test will be my surgery, since I'm a difficult case. I think he'll do just fine.
I did have to wait (about and hour) from my appointment time, but it wasn't a BIG deal. I found Dr. Hart's staff very friendly - which must be hard to do in such a hectic office. They are wonderful. Dr. Hart is very matter-of-fact. He asked questions, and explained the lap RNY to me and my husband. He was pleasant and seems very competent. (I figure that's why my appointment got pushed back - he take as much time as he needs to with each patient.) To me, that's a good thing! He recommends all his patient get The Complete Guide to Obesity Surgery. (I already had it, thanks to Evelyn.) It is a VERY informative book! I would recommend it to anyone. I don't think there is a structed aftercare program, but he does have a nutritionist he recommends and "The Book" is a good resource. Of course, this website's "library" has been where I have found answers to every question I've had so far....and it's from people who have "been there". I feel very confident about the decision.
My first impression of Dr Hart was that he was down to business and forthright. I appreciated his straightforward approach..
I have "heard" not so great things about his office staff, but I will defer judgement on that because his staff has been nothing but professional, kind, and very helpful to me since my first phone call to them a few months back. I look forward to my relationship with this office... His nurse was very cute..great sense of humor...

He was very personable with me. Maybe a little shy in the beginning but we had a common interest and when he started to talk about that he was open, warm and caring. Very knowledgeable and willing to answer all the "dumb" questions that I had. I still have that impression of him. Although I have heard of others who have had trouble with the office staff they were nothing but efficent and professional to me. my only negative comment would be that if his wls business is going to grow much more he needs to hire additional office staff. The girl who answers the phone is extremely overworked and stressed which sometimes comes across as rude but after sitting in the waiting room on two different occasions it was very obivious that she is over worked!
I haven't met with Dr. Macik yet, but my impression of his office staff is EXCELLENT! Gerry was very informative, and the nurse, Mary Francis, was a jewel about telling what to expect post-op. My first consultation is scheduled for July 30th, and they say that if all goes well I could have a surgery date before the end of the year. I am so excited!!!! I will update again after I meet the doctor.
Well, I decided to changed doctors. Although I'm sure Dr. Macik is a wonderful surgeon, I felt that the $4,500.00 deposit was excessive for my budget. So, I switched to Dr. Christopher Hart. I met with Dr. Hart on yesterday, Aug. 4th, and he was very nice. Dr. Hart seemed shy, but very informative. I can't believe I'm on my way to insurance approval. Next on my list of things to do is the psychological evaluation.
