DMC Harper Bariatric Medicine Institute Bariatric Center
Dr. Wood is a very nice guy who seems to really care about helping the patient when we talkked he would go out of his way to explain any questions that I had and he has been a surgeon for over 25 years, he also helped to develope the micro pouch bypass surgery and that is what Iam having! I would recomend him and his GREAT Staff to any one. My surgery is not until July 11th so I will update more about his after care then
My first impression of Dr. Wood was that He knew what he was doing and was truly interested in his patients!
At the time I was going through the process and until right after I had my surgery, it was with LivLite now he is with Cori Centers. In the beginning the office staff at LivLite was very personal and fun, they all made you feel like you were all great friends, unfortunately they went through some business changes and were not allowed to "joke and personalize" with their patients. I don't know how it is now because Dr. Wood is with Cori and I am not as familiar with the office staff since the people I did know are no longer there.
Unfortunately I did have several post-op complications which required 2 other surgeries but all things considered, I had no fear or concerns because Dr. Wood did all the surgeries I felt completely at ease and in capable hands. Let me just stress that I was totally aware that this surgery (as any surgery) has it's risks and at no time did I feel like my problems were due to anything other than just "chance".
As far as Dr. Wood goes, he is a dedicated professional and great gentleman. I would highly recommend him to anyone who is contemplating this surgery.
I met doctor woods at the consultation and he was very straight forward and honest. He did not lead to me to have a false sense of security he stated the facts and added some humor in with it and i felt right at home with him and felt safe with him doing my proceedure.
the office staff is all friendly but there is so many that it is hard to know who you have talked to and who you have not.
what I liked least about Dr. Wood was that he was very rushed but he has a group that day and was trying to get everyone out it was already an 8 hour day at his office.
emphasize on after care was expressed to be very important on the road to recovery and well as a healthy life style.
overall i would say they were very nice and polite and willing to answer questions. but this is pre surgery so i will update afte the surgery.
Dr Wood is Awesome!!! He is very helpful, kind and educated. At this point he is the coolest person I have ever met. His office staff was very courteous and helpful with every thing I had to go through for this surgery. I have already referred people to see him. Everything was great and I would highly recommend him!!!!!!!
I thought Mr. Wood was extraordinary!!!! I am totally confident in his abilities to help me to achieve my new healthy lifestyle. I am so pleased with his pleasant attitude and his knowledge. He has a good sense of candor. I am not scared thanks to him, cautiously nervous but full of hope and I truly feel I will be ok. Thank God for Mr. Wood. and his great smile.
I really like Dr Wood I am very confident with choosing him as my surgeon not only has he performed thousands of these operations but he also has his name on the procedure itself!!! Wow now that is reassuring! Dr Wood was very personable and even gave me a hug at the end of the appointment. That was very nice of him and it made me feel safe. I am trusting Dr. WOod with my future, my dream, my life and I have the utmost faith in him. I would strongly reccomend Dr Wood he is fantastic!
My first impression of Dr. Wood was that he was a friendly Doctor. He was also VERY knowledgeable. I nicknamed him "My favorite surgeon in the whole wide world!" He is just a good person who is good at what he does. His office staff have been really good to me. One of the best office members is Rachel (Dietician). She is so easy to get to talk to and she is very empathetic and understanding whenever I ask her a question.
I feel that I couldn't have found a better Doctors group then what I found. I have so much faith and trust in what they do.
Dr. Wood does let you know of all the risks involved. He informs his patients and double checks to make sure that you understand all of the risks. The group rate I would give them is a 9. I feel that both of Dr. Woods surgical competence and bedside manner are also 10's. The only things I didn't like was that when I called the office it was hard for me to get ahold of certain people. It's kind of like phone tag. And sometimes someone was on vacation and they didn't tell me until after I got a hold of someone else. That does get a little frustrating.
These were just my personal impressions of my own personal experience and that I am making no statements about what other people may experience.
I liked Dr.Wood as soon as I seen him and so far, my impression has not changed at all.
The staff at the Cori Center is great also.
Dr.Wood helped to develop the Sapala-Wood MicroPouch and goes over the pros and cons, so I knew not only that he was a sharp cookie, but cares about his patients.I would recommend Dr.Wood to anyone that is thinking of having WLS... like I said, not only is he brilliant, but his bedside manner is excellent also.
My only complaint was not with Dr.Wood, but the anestiologist that put in my epidural. He was impatient (did not wait for the nurse to be present), rough and insensitive.
