Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I love to eat. I want to eat to celebrate good times, I eat when my mood is down or when I am unset. When I go to the store to buy groceries, I try not to buy certain foods, like chips and soda, because they are my weakness. i am a closet eater too. I will eat all types of fast food when I am not around my family and claim that I'm not hungry when they are around. this is mostly when I am emotional. i do know how to eat healthy and prepare healthy meals. Whith having kids, its hard because its more convenient to cook something fast.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

The worse thing about being overweight is shopping. True enough that there are some "big girl" stores out there, but it's not always fum to go in the stores. I remember one time, when I used to work at the post office,I heard another carrier say that he and his daughter like to sit outside of Lane Bryant and watch all the fat women go and shop. To actually hear that and know that there are people like that makes me sick. The most disturbing is my health. Since I've become heavier, now 326lb, I have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. i am not on medication as of yet, but I've seen what harm diabetes can do to a person. I don't want to end up like that.
